It will be interesting to see who emerges as our left wing backs with Miller Earley Wright and Endacott.More than enough there to explain why Grant wasn’t offered a contract but nobody offering what Mumba offers. At least there is a place up for grabs.May the best men win.
I understand why he might not have had much game time so far but it seems a bit pointless to sign a player like Earley as (presumably) 'one for the future' and not be planning to play him in the future. Surely he is penciled in as either first or second choice left wing-back next season. Otherwise, why he is at Argyle? But then the same could be said about Miller (first choice presumably if fit).

I find it interesting that Earley was at Norwich from the age of 9 and captained their under 18 and under 23 sides - in the latter case I presume he was captaining a side that quite often had Bali Mumba in it. So, although Earley didn't break through into the first team he was obviously very well regarded at Carrow Road for many years (Mumba has made 5 first-team appearances for Norwich).

It remains to be seen whether Earley is good enough for the Championship but I feel that the Argyle recruitment team must have crunched the numbers and judged that he could be. I expect him to be a regular in the match-day squad next season.

Shame about Finlay Craske, good little player.
Could come back to bite us.

Is he leaving to become a vampire 🧛‍♂️?
Now I understand why he only played in night matches 😉

A fit Miller and a full preseason with Earley should be good options for Argyle allowing Loanees for other positions.Pace across the back line looks an issue but is a fit Galloway going to be available?Pretty sure that when fit he is faster than Scarr Wilson Gillespey and Edwards.

I find these stats rather bamboozling; apart from Oxford away I can't remember any goals Argyle conceded that you could directly attribute to Burton.

The quoted stats as I read them were more to do with exceptional saves than errors - as in most of the keepers on the list saved more certain goals than Burton, rather than gave fewer gifts away, if that makes sense.

I thought Burton did well, but we need a new keeper because we cannot be sure when Cooper will be back and ready to start games. It would be suicidal to try and play through to Christmas with Burton plus an 18 year old who's never played adult football as our only goalkeeping options.

I think the retained decisions were fairly straightforward, though sorry to see Danny and Connor go. Galloway's extension was out of the Club's hands and now the hard work of strengthening the squad will start in earnest. Quite a shopping list, my thoughts are a keeper of Championship standard, a couple of strong and pacey defenders, a couple of wide players, a creative midfielder and at least one "no. 10", perhaps more?

I can't see how it was out of the clubs hands as they obviously agreed to that clause in the contract. TBH, a fit Galloway is a valuable asset for us, albeit a big if.

Similarly I think Bolton would have been too, just a shame about the injuries. I was wondering if we would have offered him a contract up til December to prove his fitness.

I think this thread just highlights what a tough and precarious profession football is.Loads of talented players unemployed now having to shift themselves and families around the country. Not incredibly well paid for a job that can end at any time and often by 33.On the flip side imagine sending your team up as Champions as a fan in front of 4000 Argyle fans.Hopefully that will put a smile on Adam Randell’s face for the next 60 years and keep his drinks bill down!
