A series I have on DVD and go back to regularly is Edge of Darkness. Brilliant 80’s drama and absolutely murdered by Hollywood when they made the Mel Gibson film.

The film is actually quite good as a stand-alone film, but ruined by the changes from the original. Forcing irradiated milk down someone’s throat does not compare with bringing two lumps of plutonium together at a crowded energy summit. The Nothmoor break in makes no sense in the film and Jedburgh’s character is also completely redundant.
