From the look of the turned up brim on the hats it could be a group of Aussie soldiers,

In the back gardens of 492, 494 and 496 Budshead Road


The loop in the road N of the Hall is now Lancaster Gardens. Whitleigh Farm became Whitleigh Church in the 1950s (below) and a Surgery in 1970s.

I can PM you a better map if you want - copyright and all that. I grew up aged 3-15 in Dorchester Avenue.
My grandmother lived in the bottom of Lancaster Gardens and I often thought the old buildings across the road a bit strange - would have related to the time of the Hall.

At the time it was called Camels Head School. I used to live on Second Avenue in the 50's. Camels Head Creek was still there but not that close.
