Good god has Derek killed the Pope or something. He hasnā€™t abolished the Herald just denied it access to himself and Home Park after a series of dodgy articles and mischief making by a troll from up the road. Get a grip the sky isnā€™t going to fall in. The Herald will still ā€œreportā€ in its usual manner no doubt. Chris Errington is a nice guy but he isnā€™t the second coming!

They're not banned from Home Park, just access to DA. They will still have access to the players and other club staff.

Toys out the pram by DA and falling out with the fans earlier in the year!! Makes good reading.

Post match interviews will be more pointless now.

Let's get this bloody season over with

The herald do produce some terrible headlines and articles, but they are the source of Argyle news for the City of Plymouth. I understand Derekā€™s frustrations but at the same time he is the manager of the club and needs to learn to take criticism. Football Managers all over the country will have some shoddy articles written about them at some point. He needs to ignore it and focus on keeping us in League One

Whatever the rights or wrongs of The Herald (and there are plenty of faults), the point is the reason they have been banned is because Adams cannot ever accept any criticism or questioning of his actions. That's at the root of this, it's rather Trump esq behaviour.
The last time The Herald were banned from Home Park it was by Dan McCauley. He couldn't accept any criticism or questioning either.

The Herald isnā€™t banned, they can report on matches and interview who they like, it is just that Adams has chosen not to speak to them apart from when he is contracted to. As the interviews are also reported by the BBC and Argyle if fans are desperate to read or hear Adams they still can, it isnā€™t if the Herald ever had exclusive access to Adams.

It would be better of fans like you just wrote articles praising Adams in all scenarios. After all why should he ever be questioned?

Maybe some on here should read the article.

he has banned them from attending pre-match interviews is all................not post-match, or from Home Park, as the Herald has been in the past.

and the number of negative posts on Pasoti re. the Herald is substantial, but now this action has been taken, there's a load of posters using it berate the manager for taking action against a rag a lot of people detest.

just another stick...............................

So the Herald have been banned from the pre-match press conference with DA on a Thursday. They can still speak to players and anyone else at the club, and still attend the post-match press conferences. The thread title is a little misleading as it looks like DA has banned them from all club activity. He's just said he won't talk to them before games. A lot of hand wringing over not much as far as I can see.

Edited to add: just saw Vampire's post above. Fully agree.

The Herald have been free to slag him off every other day of his near four seasons at the club, so where does your allegation that he cannot and will not take criticism from the Herald come from? He's taken plenty. As Cobi says, their personal attack pieces based on a handful of horrible tweets go back to Kelvin Mellor and Gary Miller. It's not repressing the 'free media', it's allowing access to responsible journalists who don't persistently run the club down. Perhaps the Herald fell out of this bracket when they committed to mean spirited clickbait pieces to try and increase their website traffic over balanced match reports and the usual regional sports club pieces.

As for Jak Ball, I went school with him and he is Argyle through and through and was supporting them at a time when there was about half a dozen of us in a year group of 200, just before the championship. He also has a job as a journalist to do and a boss he will need to please. Apart from the and I do concede, ridiculous story about FM, Jak has reported facts he hasnā€™t made up those criticisms or those twitter accounts.

There is NO WAY that Mr Ball can be called pro-Argyle or a journalist IMO.
