Without wishing to be wilfully negative, it feels like every day without good news about this makes it more unlikely he's coming.

Maybe Mason has seen that our other stellar prodigal son hasn't played a single minute since coming back to the club...

All this rubbish about why he would prefer to come to us than any other football club is just that, a load of rubbish.
ALL footballers have a very short career, and they must maximise their returns from playing professionally.
Money talks, and he will go to the football club that will pay him the most wages.

Correct. Players are no different to any other working man. You have to maximise what is best for you and your family. How many times do we see a player kiss the shirt badge of a club and a couple of months later after a transfer or loan see them doing the same to a different club. Anyone who truly believes there are players who want to join or play for a club because it is their home club to the exclusion of financially attractive alternative options need help and counselling.

We don't know his personal circumstances though. There must be some tie to Plymouth or he would have declined by now. It could be he has elderly or unwell parents, his partner might live down here, he may want to start getting a house built for his retirement. There are loads of reasons why he may want to sign for 18 months on less money than he could get elsewhere.

No news as good news is now slightly edging towards no news could mean time for other clubs to start negotiating.

My guess is we’ve put on the table a final renegotiated offer and he’s weighing up things.

I think the opposite. The delay with no news feels to me like there’s a period of negotiation going in behind the scenes.

I'm thinking the same way.

Hope it's not just wishful thinking.

He has got ties down here, he’s from Plymouth, his family still lives down here, last year (I think it was) he brought a apartment on The Hoe.

Apparently he’s said for a while now that he didn’t wanna leave us and would love to come back and play for us. With the Club and especially Adams haven’t said a word about this since Saturday doesn’t mean it’s bad news, maybe he’s got a few lose ends to tie up at Wolves, for example his house etc.

He would be a terrific signing for us and has gained a lot of experience since he left us.

Come on Joe come home and pull on the green shirt of your boyhood club.

Until Adams rules him out, there is still a chance that he may come to the club, although I still think that he is waiting/negotiating for another club to get him on higher wages than we can offer. He may not want to drop down to our division. He is approaching the peak of his career and it will be important to him that he makes the right decision.
Time will tell.

Look at the facts. He hasn't signed for us yet but he also hasn't signed for anyone else yet. Charlton and us are the only ones 100% in contact. The rest of these 28 pages have been rumours of clubs interested, 4.5k/6k wages, being in stadiums, being abroad etc

Based on the facts we should have good reason to believe it could happen especially with Charlton no longer in the race. I think it would be a great signing and fingers crossed.

Perhaps DA wishes he hadn't gone public on a deadline. If Mason is waiting for a better bus to jump on, and no bus comes along, he is left with Argyle … almost by default. Then DA has to decide to take him (hopefully on his, as in Argyle's terms) or stick by the deadline … "you've missed the bus !"
