Strange, as I say the chap who sent me this text is well known in local football circles and is not a hoolie but a decent family man.

Still, the club monitor this site, and will no doubt investigate your allegations. We (this site) will probably never know the outcome, but I have my own thoughts after that text.

No worries IJN. As I said the matter was reported and a phone call will take place on Tuesday I believe. Will post any outcome on here, best of luck for the rest of the season feel both clubs should be okay

Yes photographs were taken, matter reported to the Rovers cooper who travels with the team. Will be interested to see what comes of this. I have had buddy’s banned for what I called “cockrelling” gesturing violence but not actually doing anything. I would like to think assault in a ground would result in a football banning order aswell as argyle looking to keep them out of home park for an extended period.

I would also think that deliberately sitting in the home end and identifying as a Bristol Rovers fan (e.g. celebrating, taunting home supporters) would result in a stadium ban. I've gone undercover a few times but I certainly don't celebrate when my team scores. Therefore no-one has ever punched me. Common sense.

Your father sounds naive to me.

Why sit with home fans if your the away supporter and are going to celebrate wildly if you score, especially if it’s a last minute goal!

Asking for trouble in any ground in the country.

Sorry I dont agree. I did the same thing at Bristol a few yesrs ago when we came back from 2 down at half time to win 3-2 I managed to contain my self until the 3rd went in, when I flew out of my seat jumping & cheering with arms flailing, with no issues what so ever. My Stepdad is a gas head so we always sit with him in the home end at the Memorial & He with us at Home Park. I have never had an issue with either set of supporters. I also do the same with freinds who are Luton supporters again never had an issue. if you are with family/freinds of the opposition you are generally accepted amongst the home fans as long as you behave fairly reasonably.

In my opinion you are very lucky and extremely naive to behave like that. However I was at that game, and to be 2-0 down at HT and get the winner with Hemmings in stoppage time, perhaps the adrenaline was overwhelming. It was a fantastic moment. I remember Chadwick having an absolutely blinding second half. I've parked up on Gloucester Road before and been very fortunate to not be wearing Argyle colours with Gas fans throwing missiles and pouring hatred on the Argyle fans receiving a police escort, so the risk runs both ways. I certainly wouldn't advise celebrating in their end.

but it happens at football ,course it’s wrong.Never understood why men kicking a ball about can generate so much anger and violence between two set of fans. One game abroad recently had to be abandoned because of violence between the fans.

The thing is violence has always been a problem throughout the history of the game, maybe just rid of the sport altogether then,it’s never going to end.Same as all the abuse and swearing the players get, that won’t end either
I've never understood why there can be so much ire between one set of fans!!! Some of these boards go from a small disagreement to out and out insults within 6 posts lol.

He originally said his Dad could only have been identified cos he didnt celebrate Argyle's goals which is a bit unlikely. Story has holes in it and losing credibility. Not that I am condoning anything that followed.

Its going the way where football is not as important as the socialising. SPURS new ground will have a champagne bar and a cheese shop!

I only make one trip to Home Park each season. It's nothing to do with the distance/cost & more to do with the fact I can't get myself a good Gorgonzola when I'm there.

So, I was sat next to Oliver's father yesterday throughout the whole game. It was obvious he was a Rovers fan (on a family day out with his family) and he behaved impeccably up until 91st minute. He over-celebrated, drew attention to himself and then involved himself in an altercation with a seriously miffed Plymouth fan. I INTERVENED in the diplomatic style of David Fox and prevented a punch up between two grown men. I did a pretty good job, spoke to Oliver (who thanked me) and his step mum, and advised them to sit down and ideally leave to prevent matters getting worse. Oliver's father, presumably upset that the altercation had occurred, was very agitated, was swearing and would not listen to reason from both me and his family. He was glassy eyed and certainly played his part in the incident. His young daughter had already fled in tears while Oliver's dad was still embroiled in subsequent altercations. I am not condoning violence, but he acted irresponsibly and put himself and his family in needless danger. Celebrating in the grandstand is one thing but this was a car crash waiting to happen and Oliver's dad was not wearing a seatbelt.

If that's the case he should thank his lucky stars it's a black eye and a fat lip. This is a crazy world and putting yourself in that sort of situation at his age is moronic.
It's not right but we can all name grounds where this behaviour would have led to extensive hospital treatment.
