No, he referred to it spoiling the enjoyment of the vast majority but didn’t explain why. I’m genuinely interested as I can’t understand how people feel so strongly one way or another. As long as it’s a victimless crime, of course.

People can’t see the pitch through the smoke, people who may be asthmatic may get it in their throats, if it lands on someone it can badly burn them (at worst) or stain their clothes (at best)… the list goes on and on.

Or just like me, they find it all a bit cringe, even more so if it’s against the rules and would cost Argyle money.

Last time we clinched promotion to the Championship (and as Champions, too) was that wonderful day when we beat Holloway's QPR 2-0. Trigger & Friio... fantastic! One of the all-time great Argyle days - with a party atmosphere to match.

I could be wrong, but i believe not a single supporter came onto the pitch, during the game or afterwards.
Correct and boy did I celebrate. Actually I started celebrating after Daveeeed scored and didn't stop for hours🤣🤣

To be honest we could still remember those bloody high fences up around the ground and no one wanted to go back to them.

Ist simple really. Stay off the pitch the celebrating is still fun. 👍👍👍👍

I’ve misunderstood then as I thought we were still talking about pitch invasions.

Let’s hope it triggers a return to ticker tape and bog rolls. Not that I am anti-pyro but much preferred that.

Would have to be mindful of anyone suffering paper cuts though.

That’s even more dangerous than the flares, judging on what we saw last season and the idiots that got on the pitch.

The use of flares/ smoke bombs has become more widespread in the English leagues and are prominent in Europe for years.
Genuine questions as I have never actually seen or held one.

Where the hell do they get them from?
Are they actually dangerous?
Is there heat involved?
Are the actually illegal both inside or outside the football environment?

Trust me I have no intention or interest as a 60 yo bloke in getting any but I am just curious. Flares seem to ignite arguments amongst the fan base .
Type ‘Green Smoke Flares’ into the Amazon search engine and you will get myriad options.

Last season saw, I believe, the largest number of arrests for football related offences for several years. We also saw assaults on players and managers on the pitch by spectators. Much as they might look good, lighted flares can be dangerously hot and toxic.

So unless you're misguided enough to think that this is all part and parcel of going to football then you have to accept that the authorities have to tighten up regulations. The majority of fans who just want to want to go to the game with friends or family, maybe have a pint, a pasty and a bit of banter while supporting their team have nothing to worry about.

We are succumbing to the snow flake generation. Football RIP. I was born in the wrong era.
Sweeping generalisation alert - but I do feel those born post-war up to say mid 1960s really did, generally speaking, strike it lucky as far as football's concerned. They were able to enjoy/experience the fun and, at times, chaos of the terraces as teenagers/young adults and now are able to enjoy all seater stadiums and all round more pleasant days out in their later years.

I don't suppose many would choose football to transport itself back to the mid 70s with terrible pitches and packed terraces, but it sure looked like a cracking day out for those able to make the most of it.

If you want pitch invasions, then the 80’s would also be the wrong era for you. High fences with barbed wire and police dogs put a stop to that.

However, if you want to be on constant guard walking to and from the match, picking your route carefully so you don’t get the living s**t kicked out of you and sitting on the bus hoping the wrong lads don’t get on, you’d love it.
