1) Exeter - traditional local rivals
2) QPR - always seen them as friendly rivals since our promotion season together
3) Torquay - baby brother style rivalry (although embarrassingly they are out shining us right now but I feel kind of proud of their surge in form)

Also very surprised Swindon aren't there. We were bitter rivals in the late 80s/early 90s. For many Argyle fans it's still there.

I don't pay Exeter any attention whatsoever, so has to be Pompey and Bristol City next.

Some consider the Bristol Clubs.........because Bristolians will tell you that their the main west country city because they are the biggest.

Too right, always good to see Torquay succeed. Overall, they're in the best shape I've ever known. Top end of the league, new stand coming up... Go Gulls!

I hate Burnley for all the obvious reasons and are currently in my "book of grudges". One day. When it really matters, maybe our first cup final, we will be able to cross out that grudge. They're not rivals though.

Exeter and Swindle are just dislikes.

I hate Cardiff and Leeds because of their fans and their attitudes to football.

I hate Arsenal, Man Utd and Milton Keynes because they're franchised teams who moved distances from their original fanbases.

Most Bristol fans don't see us as rivals because they have a strange definition of Westcountry up here which seems to not include Devon or Cornwall but does include Gloucestershire & Wiltshire. Strange lot.

I would have thought that Celtic/Rangers was a religious rivalry more than political.

So is Everton/Liverpool religious.

Arsenal/Spurs goes back a 100 years or so because of Arsenal being promoted from a lower league position than Spurs.....seen as an injustice.

Traditionally Argyle/Exeter....when in same league.......Torquay ? no one as got used to them being best in Devon as yet.....but it could happen this year !!!

I always thought that Celtic / Rangers was more of a religious divide.

Some years ago, a football supporter was chatting away to me about why there are cities with at least two major football teams with fierce rivalries. His theory was that it was due to their formation by rival religious faiths. This may be true - you will need to dig deeper into the history of Sheffield Wednesday vs United; Bristol Rovers vs City; Dundee vs Dundee United; Hibs vs Hearts; etc.

However, Everton and Liverpool were both founded by Methodists, Everton originally being the ' St. Domingoā€™s Methodist Church football team'.
