Always think this is a strange question.

It is largely said that Messi is the best player in the world. I would dispute this. Best player in his position maybe but I would argue that he wouldn't be to good in goal.

So on that basis.

Best GK. Jim Furnell
Best defender Leigh Cooper
Best Central Defender Micky Heathcote
Best wide midfielder Paul Dalton
Best Central Midfielder David Fiiro
Best striker Paul Mariner

as said before, it all depends on their position. coughlan and hoof it were the best centre backs for me, friio (I tried to name my son after him), best strikers I've seen probs mpenza and ebanks Blake but they aren't legends like trigger or dwight marshall. and halmosi and Akos are the most talented I've seen. but then what about mcgod? blimey I can't decide.

I would go for Alan Miller as best keeper, I know we only had him on loan but still the best I seen wearing an Argyle shirt. The full back has to be Gordon Nisbet. The centre Back for me Mick Heathcote. Centre midfield Steve McCall. The winger Paul Dalton and the Striker got to be Tommy Tynan. Many close calls but they are my choices.
