Out of interest has Purrington ever played left wing back?

For me there is a difference between being a left back and a left wing back. The main one being the energy levels you need to get up and down that pitch.

Say we are interested in Purrington. When we are looking at data for him is it at a LB position? Because to me itā€™s a totally different role.

Not saying he canā€™t do it. But can he go past a player? Does he have the stamina to get back into position when before he may of had a LM/LW to help him on that side of the pitch?

For me, wing back is the hardest part of our team to recruit because of how specialist and how important it is for us in our system of play.

This reminds me of the rumours about Gary Sawyer returning, and he became Derek Adams' first signing of the summer, and for Argyle...

As I started this subject following a throw away conversation, I find dewsnips comment interesting. He didn't say that the interest wasn't ongoing, surely if there was no interest he would of said we have had a conversation and no further interest.
People are hanging on every word the likes of Dewsnip utter, and putting their own interpretation on it. Not a criticism (as we're all so bored!), but there's a big danger of hearing something that hasn't been said.

Think heā€™d be a good signing.

Would be able to play LB if we revert to a back 4 or I could imagine heā€™d play LWB/LCB if needed.

agreed personally unless say grant is leaving is it a position that we need an addition in. I would say no because not only have we got grant and law but Galloway is coming back that can slot into the position

I wouldnā€™t be surprised if the plan is for Law to go on loan to a league 2 club for the season, playing week in week out will not only benefit him but also us in long run, Providing itā€™s the right club who plays football the right way.

Incredible isn't it. The number of times people read things and then it becomes something else:rolleyes:

Although, on Broom Dewsnip did say; - "We know exactly what Ryan can bring. We think he's a fantastic person to have around the squad but at this stage we do not have any plans to develop that conversation."

What caught my eye was the 'at this stage'. So that must mean that we do have plans to have that discussion so a deal isn't dead in the water. I guess what he's saying is that we know how Peterborough play when in the transfer market and all we have to do is hold on and eventually they'll let us have him at a price we're comfortable with.

Looking forward to seeing Broomy in green next season....Brooooooooom!

I think Ben is a no brainier. Having him means Conor grant can go back into his favoured position than we havenā€™t seen him play in. I think he could be a great centre mid and playing with an out and out full back will make us stronger

The step from youth to senior level is a massive leap.

Not many young players will be able to make that leap.

In reality it means that young players need to be producing or at least to show that they are capable of producing man- of- the - match performances, which demand their inclusion in the next and then subsequent games thereafter.

I havenā€™t seen that from Ryan Law .... YET....
Pity some of the senior players do not need to meet the same criteria to get regular game time.

I'm not saying that BP is definitely the answer if CG was to leave, but my question to those who are dismissing BP as being beneath us, who WOULD you sign as a LB/LWB who is within and budget and happy to relocate to the SW?

Because if there aren't any who are at a good age, have played over 100 odd first team games as well as experience of Championship and L1 football, then Purrington would appear to be our best option.
We are looking to improve the quality of the side.Itā€™s a no from me.

Didn't Purrington have an uncle who was great at Rugby, played for Exeter Chiefs (?) and England, and was his mentor?

I think he encouraged Purrington to make a move from us, so it wasn't a matter of Purrington being put on the transfer list under Adams, it was a matter of him wanting away to a bigger club to further his own career, and Adams (or the Club) was unable to turn down the money.
