Perhaps this isn’t realistic… I don’t really know. But I don’t want it to be anyone who applies for the role. Especially if we stay up, we should be looking at the whole world of football, identifying who we want and going out and getting them.
I agree, I think we need to be looking into Europe and in particular there seem to be some very strong German and Scandinavian managers who may appeal.
Those leagues are probably the most similar to the EFL especially German football which is very intense and probably a good match for the ferocious nature of The Championship.

I'm not saying he's particularly my choice but someone like Alex Neil wouldn't be a disaster IMO.

I’ve always liked the look of Ian Evatt at Bolton, suspect though he’d have aspirations of someone bigger than us if he were to leave Bolton (and Bolton be paying him more now than we would/could I reckon). If they didn’t go up and we stayed up that could be more possible

I just keep coming back to Michael Duff or a foreign manager.

After taking a “calculated risk” over Foster I do wonder about the benefits of another left field option.

That said; I’m very much a paid up flag waving, drum beating, card carrying supporter of Simon’s stance that we need to outthink everyone, as we can’t outspend (which means being creative)

I feel the main problem we'd have in trying to get Ian Evatt, for example, is the number of options around where he's based. I live in Bolton and on the drive to Rotherham later will be reasonably close to more than a dozen other football league clubs at various points.

Plymouth's geography is a great thing....when you are physically there. For me that would be a big plus with someone from abroad, they won't have memories of the half hour coach journey to Wigan, or wherever.

I doubt this will impact too much but if you are a young manager and you look to us, the appeal you’ve seen in the past is stability and that we back people and give them time to grow and make mistakes. That brand is now a bit tarnished so maybe you’d think twice. Saying that, you will be joining with a whole pre season and not in the middle of a dogfight. Will it reduce the pool of interest a bit though?

We can do better than that, and also do better than 'not a disaster' :p

I think the new man has to be a bit special, to 'get' us.

Think he’s a solid appointment for any bottom half of the Championship club or even top half league one clubs.

Last four clubs have been Norwich, Preston, Sunderland and Stoke (who nobody has done well with in recent years)

I think if we do drop to league one he’d be a top candidate myself.

Norwich were Championship champions 3 years ago!

We could go for Carlo Carlsberg. He's probably the best in the world.
I would give up the "jokes", they really aren't funny

I've said before about Steve Evans. Probably doesn't meet the c0ck criteria but a lot of us remember how complimentary he has been about the club in the past and when we played him after the shootings he was outstanding as a character. Perhaps a Mr nasty on the touchline is whats needed.
Fair point. His comments were class on that day. He would take the Argyle job in a heart beat I reckon but can’t see it happening, especially if we stay up.
