There will be offers for Michael Cooper in January with Villa expected to be one of them potentially.

We need to play hard ball and not let our prized asset go. He’s worth more to us than say £3m would - we need him to reach the championship and importantly to stay there..

I’m more concerned about the Manager. I’ve not felt this positive about the management team and their ability to recruit quality players to replace and improve the squad for a long time. I think if a premier club comes calling at the moment (unlikely) we would probably lose Schuey and possibly Dewsnip and Hughes. More likely is a Championship club with potential and ambition. I hope that if that occurs we are in a position to be able to match any offer on the table with regard to their salaries. Probably I would argue with regard to the likes of Huddersfield or Rotherham or Cardiff for that matter bit more of a challenge should a West Brom or Watford come calling.

I genuinely think Schuey wants to see this job through, at least until he's actually achieved something (which, let's face it, he hasn't yet).

He'll have watched the fortunes of his old mate Ryan Lowe and probably concluded that the grass isn't always greener. Yes, Lowe is back on home turf, but Schuey and his family are happy and settled in Plymouth so that isn't a pull factor for him.

Unless Everton come calling (they won't), I'm as confident as I can be that he isn't going anywhere this season.

My thoughts exactly. I’d like to think that if a championship club come calling we would match their wage offer as that’s where we want to be and if we see Schumacher as a championship manager pay him as such. To lose our manager and Dewnip could be disastrous.

Time to put things into perspective. We are currently riding the crest of the wave but inevitably we will hit a bad patch at some point this season. There is still an awful long way to go and football is so unpredictable with unforeseen injuries , suspensions etc. At the moment Shuey has a lot of potential but is relatively inexperienced and hasn’t won anything yet. Hopefully he will remain with us until he does.

It feels like we could lose Coops sooner rather than later. Surprised something didn't happen in the summer but perhaps interested clubs wanted to see if he hit the ground running again - which he has. Just need to enjoy him whilst he is still with us and hope that Burton is ready to step up when he inevitably leaves. One thing we know about this management structure is that they are full of future planning.

Surprised that nobody has commented on the fact that in his comments about Cooper's future, Schumacher makes 2 references to Promotion this season.
