Sounds very much as if Argyle could be preparing themselves for a sale. They might think that Coops may not sign another contract and that it would be financially preferable, as his contract is running down, that they will be prepared to accept an offer sooner rather than later.

Or maybe that is what other clubs are hoping for?

To me Michael Cooper is worth his weight in gold. We need him to get to the championship which would be worth £5m to us I think. Also were we to get to the Championship and MC continue to impress then his value could potentially triple or quadruple.

I see no reason why we should sell right now. I think Michael Cooper is probably the best keeper I’ve ever seen at Argyle and I’m convinced He’ll play for England one day.

Does anyone know if Cooper wouldn't sign a new contract?
Or know if he wants to leave for pastures new?

No idea at all, who would really know?
I guess we'll have to cash in on him sometime, let's hope its for big bucks that can be used to further progress our ever improving football club.

It's a non story and lazy journalism. They have turned 'Burton signs new contract' into 'Cooper is leaving'. The quotes from SS relate to Burton, but they have been quoted in context to Cooper! I'm not saying he won't leave or that clubs aren't interested just that the article posted isn't news.

He will leave at some point though. It’s inevitable. And it makes sense that it will happen before his current contract expires and that he won’t sign a new one so as to keep his options open to the maximum possible extent. Given this, from the club’s perspective it makes financial sense to sell him in summer 2023 or, if the right offer comes in, in January 2023.
(Purely my opinion of course)

Just pure thinking here, but obviously the signs point he won’t be our keeper for ever and even Schumacher said got plans in place for when he leaves. So maybe club has received a approach and will complete when transfer window opens

Atletico Madrid are rumoured to be interested in Villas Martinez if they lose there current keeper.

That’s the only link I can see between Cooper and Villa.

I wouldn’t surprised if some deal was almost in place for the end of this season tbh. There was no point cooper going early when he can get another full season under his belt.

I cannot see any reason for Cooper to go just yet until he can fight for a place in another first team. He will be wasted on the bench, and he will have a better opportunity to get that AFTER we get promoted and he has showed his skill in the Championship. Better for him and better for Argyle.
