You can't make a player sign a contract- Pan was afforded a lot of time to decide whether he wanted to sign the improved contract or not
We are no longer a basket case that his pushed around & walked over- Argyle has to protect Argyle & if it means we get an undisclosed fee for Pan than so be it
Pan always gives 100& but he has to earn a living , the same as Joe Public - footballers careers are short so he has to make as much as he can in the years he has left as a footballer
I wish him well, wherever he ends up- but we will go on as a football club & one player does not make a football team

Every fan loves a player who shows a bit of passion and gets around the pitch making tackles and running with the ball like Pan does. However the Coaches of other sides will be much tougher judges of his strengths and weaknesses and what he is worth.

The simple fact is we have no idea how much we offered or how much his agent wants. At the end of the day, unless you are on enough money not to worry about money then you will always go where the money is. So if pans agent say, i can get you more then so be it.
I will miss him as i feel his energy and drive was soo missed when he was out of the team. But good luck to him and thankyou for your effort at argyle.

We move on.

Well if the rumours are true (he wants to stay but his agent is telling him to hold out) maybe then his agent has been in talks with a club/clubs and know they will offer him more.

I’m just wondering if his agent or Argyle will get a call from Lowe

Gutted about this as I think he's going to be very hard to replace. But as others have said, if he doesn't want to be here no point dwelling on it and may as well get what we can for him. I know the chances of us knowing the amount are slim, but if it's around the 200k previously mentioned in this thread, then I think we are getting mugged off.

A bad decision not to break the bank for a player who wants to leave?
How do you know he wants to leave now? All we know is that his agent doesn't want to lock him into an extended deal.

I'm sure Pan would be perfectly happy to stay for another 12 months knowing he could negotiate a move as a free agent next summer.

But because of this so-called transfer policy we're now going to lose him this summer; probably for a pittance and probably to a promotion rival.

I do think Pan has often done the work of 3 in midfield this season (with Mayor often disappearing and Houghton being neat and tidy but rarely contributing a blood and snotters performance). I’d like to see a rebuild of the midfield (like we did with the defence last year) without Houghton and Mayor (they’re good players but we need an upgrade) with more of a shared workload between the 3 newbies and if we do that recruitment well we won’t miss Pan that much I’d say. I wouldn’t want Broom to be honest.

All 3 midfielders need to be goal scorers too (oh for a Steve Castle with 22 goals one season) as that takes so much pressure off the forwards and makes Pan’s role easier to replace. If we persist with Houghton and Mayor and try and find a replacement for Pan we’ll struggle badly I’d say.

That’s a long way of saying a new 3 man midfield with a better distribution of workload and more of a goal threat would put less pressure on finding a like for like ‘Pan replacement’ in my opinion. Randell would be one of those players.

He’s an asset (like all the players). He has value to the club through his performances on the pitch and through a sale to another club. This is simply a judgement that the latter is worth more than the former. I’ll be sad to see him go but I agree with that judgement.

We are always very quick to "blame" the player for wanting to move on but, imho, it's not the player, it's the agent that creates the doubt in the players mind.

As soon as Mr 10% starts throwing outlandish, make-believe wads of cash in the direction of a player, regardless of anything else, their heads begin to turn.

So long Pan, and thanks for all the fish. For your sake, I hope the grass really is greener on the other side.

He's already under contract for next season.

Good business, if he doesn't want to be here then cash in on him and buy Broom, someone who has publicly stated would love to come back and adds energy to the midfield.

Confirmation of something that seemed very likely for a while. He's going to be hard to replace, his ability to drag us the field with his long legs was always a joy and his tackling was brilliant. Good luck to him but I hope we have a plan.

For me Pan will be missed hugely by Houghton as well as us fans. Time and time again he mops up and covers for Jordan when he caught on the ball or is turned.

Sad to see him leave but the right stance by the club.
