No obsession on my part but do we look backwards or forwards? Do we settle for the odd foray in the 2nd tier with a stadium 3,000 to 4,000 capacity smaller than the last time we won promotion from League 1?
Since that time the ground improvements and the facilities therein have helped see our fanbase increase by several thousand so what ambition is there in having a smaller stadium to fit in larger attendances?
Then on that logic we might as well go the whole hog and knock it down and put in an 80k seater.
Yes the fanbase has grown but its not like we've got a waiting list.
This season most matches see the seats between Zoo Corner and the away fans empty (bar a couple of games). There have been 2 or 3 sell outs in years and mostly this season.
We could put in another 6k seats at great cost to the club (probably resulting in debt that will impact playing budgets etc for years) on the off chance we get another big game.
Just accept it, Plymouth Argyle is not currently drawing in 20k plus supporters and won't be for a long time. Why add the financial burden that comes with expansion?
