Below is an extract of the approved plan for the grandstand showing the concourse and office arrangement. A widening of the concourse for comfort and regulatory reasons will also mean a relocation of toilets and refreshment kiosks.

It would appear some office accommodation could possibly be retained and reorganised to achieve the necessary improvements to the concourse.

It's just a pity that there is a nice flat, empty, fenced off plot of land right next to the Stadium that is litter and weed-strewn and getting worse and worse to look at each day that passes. it's a complete eyesore and it's a disgrace that it can be left in that condition in my opinion. But, of course, it is not owned by Argyle so there's nothing they can do about it.

There is a planning application gone in for refurbishment of that area.

I'm not sure that's anything to do with the ice rink, unless there's an application I don't know about?

The application Argyle put in was to make a nicer car park area in front of the GTs and where the old shop was. Which will make the area nicer but don't think they can touch James Brent's ice rink land.

Hmm, I'm not sure. They'd be some incredibly small offices, and would still be a small fan space.

I suspect the plan is to go the whole hog and have a really good fan area in that current office space, and then really decent offices... somewhere else! Speaking of the ice rink, if that development can get off the ground then maybe the offices could be in the Home Park facing bit of that. Or a separate building entirely.

The club have ALSO spoken about possibly having a bigger retail facility, so it will be fascinating to see what the plan is.

The piece of land I am referring to is the area of the old car park. It's currently (temporarily) fenced off and a bit of a weed-strewn dumping ground - not as far down as the old shop complex and the GTs building.

Gotcha. That still might be the ice rink area though. The white bit here is the ice rink land, I believe...

Another interesting thing I spotted in that application, that may or may not have already been noted, is the proposed location of the Jack Leslie statue in front of the Devonport End/memorial bricks.

That is JB's land. Nothing to do with what is talked about on this thread Tim.

I presume James is awaiting further clarification from PCC now the designated supplier of the Ice Rink has pulled out post covid.

With reference to the location of the Jack Leslie statue, please note that a final location has not yet been rubber stamped.

A fuller update (including a bit of a progress report) can be found in the 16 December update on the campaign website

Of course, though interesting to see what Argyle are thinking for a potential location.

Its good that the Club is prepared not just to put right mistakes that have been with the Grandstand project but perhaps make improvements. It might be embarrassing now to change something so new but it will be a sound investment for the future and if Argyle are promoted to the Championship the Club will need these improvements around the stadium to lead to increased income.

Yes, I thought that was the case. My point was just that it is such a pity that whatever work Simon Hallett does to improve and smarten up Home Park the ice rink site is just being left to rot right next door. I really think that landowners should be compelled to tidy up sites like that one and not just be allowed to leave them to deteriorate in an unmanaged way. And if they are unwilling or unable to do do then they should forfeit the site.

There should certainly be a time limit on such cases.

But why would anyone spend (say 50k) on prettying such a site if its going to be dug up in a few months?

One thing to improve access to the Lyndhurst would be to install at least 3 more turnstiles so that Blocks 6, 7 and 8 have their own dedicated entrances. The reason for the large queues at turnstile 9.
Would probably mean considerable structural changes and reconfiguration of the facilities under the corner such as the medical room so a bit costly, it will be interesting if the Club consider doing this.

If they just took out the kiosks and toilets and increased the supply at ground level, then the concourse would probably be big enough without losing the offices.
