We can do much better than today but at least we won and also hit the post twice with excellent shots.
Main priority must be to strengthen our left side by recalling Grant and sharpen up our attack by starting on Wednesday with the pair we finished with today.

George Cooper has a wand of a left foot but canā€™t defend. Maybe a back up fox further up the pitch?

Scarr was superb and Ennis like a brilliant new signing.

Iā€™m sorry, but Gillesphey just isnā€™t good enough.
His first half performance was typical of a player completely lacking confidence and your assessment was justified. However, I thought he looked far better in the second half and that Wilson was the bigger liability. Gillesphey is in danger of taking the slot once occupied by Mellor and Riley. Like them, no matter what he does, any decent contribution will be overlooked. I can't imagine the furore if it was he and not Wilson who gave the ball away for their goal. As ever, not an argument, just a view.

Nice to see Ennis and Cooper back. Nice to win and see Jephcott score. Nice to see some competition for places up front. Was a scrappy game but job done.

Oh and finally, please drop your mate Ryan. He literally did absolutely nothing today other than that 1 shot. In fact, he almost lost us the game on 70 minutes.

50 mins for Cooper, 90 mins for Mayor, Ennis back, Conor Grant rested, Mike Cooper save in added time avoids a replay.
Into next round whatā€™s not to like.

Honestly try it with a ball you will see what I mean! Itā€™s like an illusion
You're right Doyley, it is so misleading viewed from behind as the camera was positioned. When I did a referee course years ago the instructor laid out a strip of toilet paper and told us to stand back a metre or so. He rolled a ball slowly forward and asked us to say when the whole of the ball was over the line. When the last of us said it was he asked us to step forward and there was still a few inches to go which surprised us all.

If Cooper is going to break down every time he comes back then it's time to have an honest think about his future. Law was better in his short period on the pitch and Grant can play in either of Cooper's positions (LWB, CM).

2,600. Magic of the cup?!
Thought Law looked poor. And Wilson had a mare. Should have been sent off. Gave ball away for their goal and lost man for the late hesder

The fact that we looked no better than mid table League 2 team?

Doesn't really matter though does it? Players regularly encroach yards for throw ins

Yes maybe there could have been better but we were the away side and we did hit the post twice with their keeper nowhere! Cooper had one save to make, which he did very well. It wasnā€™t like they played us off the park. I expect weā€™ll get Harrogate away in the next round!

Thought that was ok - two goals, hit the post twice. Not amazing football but we had a spell after the first goal where we looked a cut above and if weā€™d scored again it would have been a different game

I doubt thereā€™s much between Rochdale and many of the lower league 1 sides weā€™ll play this season.

Beating them on their own ground is a good resultā€¦ canā€™t wait for the 3rd round draw!

That performance that's what not to like. Cooper still looks way short of starting, we now know Mayor and Broom can't play in the same team so it will be Mayor (who did ok today).

Willo had his worse game in a green shirt, I think he was still on the coach travelling up today. We miss Garroway and our midfield is definitely not the same as it was in Sep and October. We are not winning those balls anymore.

Can't see us getting into the play offs if the last 4 games are anything to go by.

Only good thing is the prize money, maybe a big draw next round and no replay

Not sure what your point is? Doyley and I were responding to djd 145's comment that the ball was not in the quadrant for Houghton's corners. Where do throw ins come into it?
