No. Completely different.

Banton if anyone.

I'm with keeno79 on this. At least I certainly think Thomas would be worth a try in the advanced central midfield position. He is quick, tricky and has a hell of a shot on him. I think if he was picking the ball up in central positions with 5-10 yards of space in front of him he could give defences a lot of problems. What I am less sure about is whether he could win the ball and whether he has the ability to see the short through-ball, passes that would unlock defences and put the strikers in on goal.

Banton is less direct. I think he would faff around on the ball too much and not inject the pace/urgency into our play that is so desperately needed.

Alessandra is the other player who I think would be best suited to the Bobby Reid role.

I don't think Tyler Harvey is quick/sharp enough.

Playing Alessandra or Thomas behind the 2 strikers is almost entirely negating their biggest asset: The ability to stretch opposing teams with their pace. You've even mentioned that Thomas is quick. Play him up-front then, where he can be most effective.

Banton's proved it's his best position.

However people want to sugar coat this, it's pretty awful news.

Without Bobby there's no movement up top whatsoever, and there's no creativity from the midfield, I worry we'll revert to hoof ball or sideways and backwards passing.

I think a lot depends on whether Reuben steps up his game or not, we need him to be the hard working beast he was at the start of the season, not the passenger he's been lately.

Shame. His ability to drive us forward will be sadly missed, lucky to have him while we did.

As for a replacement from within, got to be Alessandra for me but then we miss him up top. They played Banton there in the St. Luke's cup match at Exmouth but he was very ineffective although I was really willing him to do well. He just doesn't seem to have the concentration or drive but I would love him to prove me wrong.

Everyone knows that Bobby Reid could be recalled at any time, It's a blow but he is not our player. We have been lacking creativity all season. This will certainly cause Sheridan a problem as Harvey or Banton have not proved themselves consistently at first team level.

With Reuben not on top of his game at the moment, who is going to create and score the goals ?

Let's hope one or two of the players or a further loan signing will fill the void quickly.

I really do not think that Thomas is the man to fill Reid's departure back to BC. Midfield is quite a specialist role. The young players in the squad are not currently up to speed to fill the vacuum, although some show nice touches without the same driving energy levels. It need to be an inwards loan on a like for like basis.

That is a huge blow and could be a season defining moment, similar to last season when Lavery was recalled.
This is the danger of the loan system.

Banton could play the same role in the team but is injured, Harvey failed to take his chance against AFC Fylde so hopefully Alessandra could step into that midfield attacking role.
That was my first thought, the Lavery after effect last season. Gutted but wish him well and he will be hugely missed, we have decent players like Cox and Norburn to come in but they just are not so energetic or forward thinking.

Just home from work and seen Reid has been recalled by Bristol city.first thought that's a shame second thought pasoti doom and gloomers here we go..fact he's a good player but we were doing absolutely fine before he arrived.its not like since he's been in the team we've been scoring for fun etc..its because we've got a good defence solid midfield and a good front line were doing well and will continue to do well!!!!!
