Cooper's apparently nowhere near, and Bolton saw a specialist last week which suggests that his recovery is not progressing as planned.
Ryan Lowe has said this around a week ago that George Cooper could be available in some capacity for the bench against Rotherham.

The squad is threadbare borne out by the subs bench once the starting XI have picked themselves.

Its the weakest bench I've seen for years and God help us if there are any injuries or covid to deal with.

I think we are really exposed and riding our luck big style if we think we don't need 3 or 4 good additions to give some depth to squad.
No one is going to come off the bench currently and change our fortunes.

I was optimistic of mid table before seeing playing squad presented like this now I'm thinking definite relegation battle without some strengthening as you need cover.
Just over a week to go so this is very worrying

As far as I count, we’re only a couple short of where we were at this stage last year. Positions don’t necessarily align but:

Ruddy - Burton
Watts - Gillesphey
Aimson - Wilson
Opoku - Scarr
Sawyer - Galloway
Wootton - Bolton
Canavan -
Moore - Law
Fornah - Houghton
MacLeod - Broom
Reeves - Randell
Lolos - Shirley
Nouble -
Abraham -

Law and Randell’s first team promotion makes them viable squad options now. Could arguably include Tomlinson too. This time last year they were not.

We never needed Abraham anyway, but Nouble’s spot needs filling. So realistically, one more forward and I think we’re set for now. If you don’t back Law and Randell to make a contribution, then maybe another body is required.

Quality over quantity is what a lot of us wanted and I think to a large extent that's what we've got. Yes, we need a few more bodies in to fill out the squad but it seems to me RL's prioritised the starting 11 plus 2 or 3, rather than getting in "squad" players, a few of whom will I'm sure be added in due course. I'm happy with the recruitment so far, particularly considering the players re-signed from last season.

Good to see another on board, and as some have said, if we're slow to build the squad due to steps up in quality, then fair enough.

2-3 more still needed as minimum imo, one of which (striker) we can possibly take a bit more time over (if it means getting the right fit)

The gloom and doom surrounding our squad is quite disappointing. It’s not easy to get quality players and even more difficult to get them to come down to the far SW is even harder. Give RL a chance or shall we already accept relegation and give up before a ball is kicked.

Broom has now been added. Although a couple more decent additions are needed I don't think there is cause for immediate panic. The squad we have this season is looking better balanced and higher quality.

Crying out loud the doomers are off already, before a ball as been kicked in anger.
This squad looks so much stronger then last season, the defence certainly is, we just need to start scoring.

I dont know whether some people think because we lost 3 PSFs against higher opposition we need to find a striker within the next week because we are lacking in the striker department- it is madness

PSFs are irrelevant- would people be saying if we won all 3 PSFs we are going to be winning the league

We wont be conceding 80 goals this season - we will probably score more from set pieces as shown against Boro & we certainly will not be a charitable cause giving away soft goals

If RL brought in another striker where would he fit in with the 3 we already have. RL likes playing 2 & the relationships Niall, Jephs & Hotdog have forged have been built over time or would people rather RL got some random striker & stick him in the 6 yard box for the entire game in the hope he scores goals

RL has addressed the frailties of last season- he has brought in men not boys & this team now has a mental edge- i am looking forward to seeing what this team can do

I think we will not be chasing games, we will not be witnessing numerous 2nd half malaise & we will be seeing goals shared through the team with the signings we have made

Do people not think how tough it was the players last season- soul destroying week in week out a runaway train that could not be stopped - they managed to keep us in the league & no doubt the players we have from last season will be looking forward to the new season with new team mates thinking we can & will be better

Just my thoughts but no doubt other people will say the recruitment has not been good enough & we should be pushing the boat out to get the best of the best which will never happen because we are sensible with what we have budget wise :)

Agree with all that mutley. 👍
One of the 'things' that affected us badly last season was the second half 45-50 minutes conceding of goals!
That was a part of the 'boys not men' problem for me. Not professional, not concentrating 100%.
Better players to play but also better standards and better professionalism.
Relegation?? Why??

From January onwards last season there were 5 strikers in each matchday squad apart from two games when there were 4 strikers, on two occasions there were 6 strikers in the squad. Moore was used as a striker last season rather than a wing-back.
So it does appear Lowe likes to have at least 4 strikers in his matchday squad. We need another striker.
