Gary Poole the best fullback I've seen at Argyle.

A very good player. But I'll raise you the one and only Gordon Nisbet.

Nissie was great Ian, and I'm not saying you're wrong with, but I don't think I was old enough to fully appreciate him.

Gary Poole though, man he was some player.

One thing this feature highlights is the varied shades of green through the decades.

This season looks like we are heading away from a really dark green back towards what many of us would regard as "our" green. Couple of shades to go yet though.

People seriously need to climb down from their high horse on this topic.
Yes the vote is very subjective and Yes it is more modern bias.

BUT.... whilst I am sure Gary Poole, Uzzell and Arthur Winstone-Burnington III were great fullbacks in their day... I only ever witnessed Paul Connolly, Peter Gilbert, Wayne O'Sullivan etc from the years that I have watched Argyle.

So I (and anyone else) can only ever vote for who they have seen, unless of course you can find someone who has watched Argyle since 1886 to just give their top 11!

What? Who's on their high horse? No one apart from you it seems!

I see we’re supposed to get off our high horse. Using the logic of some people then does that make Lapado better than Mariner, Rafferty or Tynan? Unbelievable!

There they are!

Yes it does... because some people will not have seen Mariner, Rafferty or Tynan actually play!
The same as those who voted for Tynan probably didnt see Sammy Black play.

That was my point, the vote is so subjective that it renders any discussion rather moot.

OK but several of the top 25 keepers and full backs could only have been seen by a handful of people and some by no one alive today. I appreciate that some of these are taking the pee out of the survey but even so you have to use some common sense.

So far for me and I started watching early 80's

GK I kind of agree with Ro although the best keeper I witnessed was Nichols (God rest him)
RB for me would be Poole or Nisbet. Shelley was good mind

Have not read the rest yet

No problem with Coughlan being named number 1. My favourite centre back was number 11 Mark Smith. However a few centre backs I liked over the years who did not make the list who I thought deserved a mention were Adrian Burrows, Lindsay Smith and Tony James.
