I sense from this thread there is a greater expection now than even 2 or 3 weeks ago of making the play offs.

Things are very tight at the bottom too so Rochdale and Northampton will still be scrapping for every point when we play them so 4 points from those would be a good return.

it's in our hands now. win at least 3 of our remaining 5 and I think we'll be ok.

we have a busy schedule and if we make the play offs and end up in a we will have another game 5 days after the Gillingham game making it 4 games in 12 days?

Northampton and Rochdale present a great opportunity for 6 quick points. We could land 2 knockout blows in the next 7 days.
Playing Saturday Tuesday at this stage won't worry them. They are at their fittest and will be only be doing light training and recovery between games.

They will be fighting for survival so by no means easy matches to play.
Agreed. And we'll be scrapping too. And if we earn the right to play, everything says we have more quality than them.

I am less sure we will make the playoffs.4 out of 5 games away,Taylor out and Rotherham home is a daunting prospect.

With the fixtures panning out as they have, 71 points should be enough. That's 7 points from our last 5.

3 points at Northampton, who will have to attack us, plus Pompey playing Charlton on Saturday (home win or draw) could be one foot in the semis.

I can't see MK Dons beating Scunthorpe - or Bradford getting a draw against them, so Scunny are likely to have 5 more points and to get in the mix.

I don't know why you think Argyle will lose at Rochdale and then Charlton will win there. Two draws sounds more likely. I also think Argyle will win at Gillingham because unlike us, they will have nothing to play for.

That would set us on 75 points and 5th, with Scunthorpe on 74 points and 6th. If we do draw at Gillingham, we would will still have 73 points and finish 6th.

Even if Portsmouth do win all three of their games, they can still only get to 72 points. Thank you Bradford City!

Executive Decision to remove Peterborough and Portsmouth. Even if they win their last two, it's highly unlikely to be enough.

Pompey will be out if they don't win both remaining games, although I would fancy them to do just that, 69 points just isn't going to be enough.

Argyle with limitless possibility thanks to matches in hand, but every one is going to be a meat grinder.

Rochdale ?-? Argyle

Charlton ?-? Blackburn
MK Dons ?-? Scunthorpe
Argyle ?-? Rotherham

Scunthorpe ?-? Argyle

Gillingham ?-? Argyle
Rochdale ?-? Charlton
Scunthorpe ?-? Bradford

Prior to games being played 24th April:

Wigan need 7 points from 3 games to be champions.
Blackburn need 3 points from 3 games to be promoted.
Shrewsbury can not finish lower than 3rd.
Rotherham need 1 point from 2 games to secure 4th place, already guaranteed playoffs.
Charlton could finish 5th or 8th but winning both their last 2 games will guarantee playoffs if the Argyle/Scunthorpe game is not a draw.
Scunthorpe need to win their last 3 games to guarantee playoffs.
Argyle need to win their last 4 games to guarantee playoffs.
Portsmouth need to win their last 2 games for any realistic chance of the playoffs.
Peterborough need to win their last 3 games for any realistic chance of the playoffs.
Bradford need to win their last 4 games for any realistic chance of the playoffs.

Think if Argyle beat Scunthorpe they can draw one of the other matches to guarantee play offs.
Still a long shot!

Yes, one draw in the 3 other games puts us 2 points behind Scunthorpe, beating them puts us a point ahead and 2 wins in the other two games means they can't catch us. So 10 points will guarantee the play-offs if one of the 3 wins is against Scunthorpe.
