Well that couldn't have gone much better...maybe the ref blowing up before the 98th minute at Millmoor and Carey getting a well deserved hat trick ....

Make Charlton v Rotherham interesting, The Addicks have got some momentum it seems ( and a game in hand at struggling Wimbledon), but if they beat Rotherham and we win at Scunthorpe that drags them right back into our grasp with them still to come to Home Park.

It isn't about overtaking them for fourth, it is about dragging them back into a battle for fifth and sixth.

Scunthorpe looked decent first half v Oxford but not that hot second half...and I am are Adams will have learned a lot from watching them....

Would rather Rotherham beat Charlton on Monday. Rotherham are a sure spot for the playoffs realistically only needing 6 points or so from the remaining games. Charltons revival under Bowyer could do with being brought down a peg or 2.

Logic says the following

Rotherham should beat Fleetwood, Blackpool and probably ( but not definitely Bristol Rovers) could well lose to Charlton, us and Wigan....and that leaves a Gillingham away trip so nine to twelve points likely spread

Scunthorpe likely wins versus MKD Wimbledon and Walsall, likely defeats at Charlton, us hopefully and a final derby v Bradford City...again a 9-12 point haul ( and that would be a step up from current form

Peterborough Lose to us Blackburn and Shrews, and maybe Pompey, beat Rochdale Northampton and Fleetwood. Nine points, maybe 10

Charlton, beat Rotherham, Wimbledon Scunthorpe, draw at Pompey & Bristol , lose to Blackburn, Shrewsbury, so need something at Rochdale....11-14 points

I have given us nine points (Scunthorpe Rotherham and Peterborough) so three wins from Northampton Rochdale and Gillingham away and Pompey home

Simples...if we maintain our home form the others can't afford draws ....and Charlton and Peterborough have the toughest run ins ( on paper)

Southend have only lost 1 in 10 so "dispatching" them is NOT a foregone conclusion particularly how we have played the last couple of games without Sonny (still recovering from the worlds biggest hangover allegedly) and Sarcs in the team.

As the title suggests one game at a time. No easy games at this point of the season and southend are on as good run as us

You were right of course pre match, BUT dispatched they were. :scarf:

So can we get a perfect Easter? No doubt that a win at Scunthorpe would be huge...and our track record there is not great...although maybe like Spurs yesterday we put something to bed ....but a draw would not be awful. Hopefully we get the second half Scunthorpe from their game at Oxford where the struggled to deal with the press.

Elsewhere Wigan on Sky is the perfect antidote to the Pompey resurgence you would hope...will Cook do us a favour...

Rotherham and Charlton are this weekends other crunch game....but I am expecting the Bowyer bounce to continue....

Posh should dispose of the woeful Northampton although it is their derby and their track record v the Cobblers is not great...any points dropped before next weeks visit would be a bonus, as would any red cards :)

Bradford should equally despatch Walsall and a draw between Southend and Gillingham should finally quash their respective faint hopes.

The continuation of the Shezzarection at Fleetwood versus Bristol should also be terminal for their hopes but I would like some lingering hope for Rovers as they still have Charlton to play at home next week

But all eyes North today...COYG

So seven games to go (for us) and who wouldn't have bitten their hand off to be in the mix at this stage ...whatever happens, a fantastic first season back in League 1...and still an outside chance of back to back promotions.

Two successive home games against close rivals will probably make or break the promotion bubble...but with nine wins from ten at home the team if not the naturally pessimistic fans will feel they can do this I am sure. The vibes on the Peterborough board are incredulous that the bookies have us at 9-5, and they travel in hope not expectation...

Elsewhere AFC Wimbledon need a couple of big wins to get themselves away from danger..or even a couple of big draws so it would be great if they could manage them versus Scunthorpe ad Charlton on Tuesday

Charlton also have a tricky game at Bristol Rovers this afternoon, with the lively Fosu missing for a fortnight.

Rotherham also play in midweek away to Wigan so they will feel the heat as they take on in form ( yep really)Fleetwood so Hallelujah for the continued Shezzarection.....

Pompey head off to the revived Rochdale still fighting hard to stay up....before heading down the road next week for the real make of break game of their season....so come on the Dale....a red card or two would be helpful too....so lets hope it is feisty or the referee is fussy, or Charles Breakspear

Finally Bradford. like that annoyingly hard to kill horror film character keep clinging on and head to the Seaside and Blackpool followed by a home game with Shrewsbury on Thursday......

Some great games today where points can be dropped, placed in the order I think dropped points most likely

Rotherham v Fleetwood
AFC Wimbledon v Cheating Scunthorpe
Rochdale v Portsmouth
Bristol Rovers v Charlton

All becomes less relevant if we do not do the business v Posh !

One cup final down six to go, with possibly the biggest of them all timing wise this Saturday.

Lots of useful draws at the weekend but last gasps equaliser for Scunny was a shame...still they probably feel the same about our late "controversial" (c) Steve Evans Peterbuckle, winner

But before that the midweek mayhem continues albeit with only three really significant games.

Can AFC Wombles reduce the Bowyer bounce to a bobble, as Charlton enter a tricky run of fixtures after this one...

Blackburn can keep the pressure on Wigan and Shrewsbury who seem to have run out of a little bit of steam by winning at Gillingham....how bizarre that a team once thought to be outside play off candidates are now outside relegation candidates....although mid table mediocrity afflicts the majority of this evenings fixtures

Wigan can dent Rochdales resurgence and Northamptons death spiral could well continue against a rampant ( well for one week at least ) Blackpool.

C,mon the Wombles!

Well meaningless mid table end of season games don't get much bigger than this.

Both clubs whose seasons seem to intertwine on a regular basis had fans who didn't expect to be here (some more than others Sam, eh?) and a nigh on sell out mean tensions will run high....

Portsmouth have Pitman back scoring for fun and a jack in the box ex non league winger come striker in Lowe who could cause Sawyer problems, but have lost their man marker who kept Nick Powell quiet.

Argyle may be without Matthews again but have no new injury problems....will Adams spring selection surprise?

Portsmouth sent Argyle bottom with a narrow 1-0 after a horrendous Matthews error but this a very different team.

First goal could be crucial but Argyle have the knack of winning at home ( and some) and Pompey have been far from defensively sound this season....

As the fixtures unravel, Charlton follow up their defeat at the Wombles with a home game versus the Iron . Rotherham face a potentially pointless trip to Wigan and Peterborough take on Rochdale who continue to climb away from the bottom and are in sight of the safe zone. Once again Argyle could end anywhere between 5th and eighth depending on the scores....

A win for Argyle places huge pressure on Pompey who follow up this match with a trip to the recently slaughtered Bradford on Tuesday, and then Charlton at home on Saturday; Indeed Charlton also take the trip to Shrewsbury on Tuesday giving them a very hard season defining three match eight days.

Rotherham are also in midweek action at Gillingham....and despite looking fairly safe for the playoffs still have some work to do to secure 4th place.

Peterborough end the midweek action with a trip to Blackburn (on Sky for Evans watchers).

Things should be much clearer by the time we travel to Northampton and Rochdale next week....
