Dont think Mr Evan's was at the match. Macey's incredible save in 1st half stoppage time kept us in the game. No blame for equaliser from where I sat either. Will see on Quest this eve......

No blame for the equaliser to Macey?
Not even for his scuffed clearance for the throw in they scored from, from a standard back pass

The substitution of Fox and Macey’s goalkeeping equally shocking. 2 points thrown away by two pathetic moments of judgement.

Exactly. Let's deliberately set up an alamo situation for the last ten minutes. Great idea Adams.
Re. Macey, the kick into touch for the throw leading to the goal was actually worse than the keeping itself

We played well in the most part today. Credit to Adams for that. He then goes and ruins it with a daft sub... again.

There is a clear difference between a) sitting a little deeper and being more compact to cover off the opposition throwing more bodies forward, and b) sitting ridiculously deep and just letting the opposition create chances. Adams has never learnt how to do the former, and I doubt that he ever will. So frustrating.

Macey 7

Riley 7
Edwards 8
Songo'o 6
Canavan 6
Sawyer 7

Fox 7
Ness 8
Sarcevic 6

Lameiras 8

Ladapo 6

The substitution was absolute madness. Foxy was up to the speed of the game. To bring someone in cold and at a time when the pace was obviously going to pick up was almost schoolboy. Adams threw that away and his actions afterwards makes me think that he feels that way too hence the reason to vent on someone i.e. their #15

Replacing Fox with Jones and disrupting both midfield and defence was a poor, poor substitution in my opinion.

And people think Derek Adams doesn’t have a negative mindset as manager.

Wow, 4 centre halves. One that he put into midfield.

Adams doesn’t believe in keeping the ball. He rather put an extra defender back there, who looked totally out of place and didn’t seem to know what to do. If you keep the ball, the opposition haven’t got it. Meaning they can’t score. Instead, we sit deeper and deeper and let them have the ball. The best bit of all this is that there is no pressure (yet again) on the person crossing the ball. Why have that many behind the ball if you aren’t going to close down people on the edge of the box.

Without doubt after the first goal we lost complete impetus. We just sat deeper and deeper and just lost any momentum of being one goal up. It’s the mindset of the manager, which feeds into the players and our tactic is never to look to score more goals but to hold onto what we have.

Anyhow, credit must go to Macey. Fabulous first half save just before the half time whistle. The two goals he could do nothing about.

The first half was fairly even. Argyle had the better first part and Rovers grew into it more and became more assured. We looked dangerous at times without testing the keeper. Rovers looked useful from crosses (it’s amazing if you get bodies in the box from open play) but it was a corner and a free header that was there other great chance of the half.

Lameiras was terrific for Argyle. He worked tiressless and was that spark on the ball which you felt would open them up for us. Everything we did well, came through him. The problem is our midfield. Not only is it “one-paced” with Ness, Sarcevic and Fox. It also is a midfield that isn’t going to provide a real goal threat. By which l mean it actually isn’t looking like scoring a goal.

Sarcevic was awful today. He gave up possession so much and gave away stupid fouls.

I did think Riley was good, and it was his great ball that flashed across the box with Ladapo not anticipating the cross.

Second half after the cracking goal from Lameiras, Argyle just sat deeper and deeper. Can you imagine how Barnsley and Charlton players will be relishing that time and space on the ball if these are the tactics we continue to adopt.

I just simply despair that we don’t have any other tactics that to cling on. The only good thing about Argyle is hoping to see a piece of Lameiras or Carey magic. It sure isn’t because we play good football because good teams don’t give away the ball as much, or as easily, as we do. You only have to watch this team and see why we struggle away from home. If it wasn’t for the generosity of the Rovers defender l honestly don’t know how we would of scored again.

Adams has it in his head that if you take the lead sitting back is the right tactics to play. Except nobody has seemingly told him that the way we defend, with no pressure on the ball carrier, is an atrocious way of defending.

The lightbulb joke should be replaced. It’s not how many people you need to change a lightbulb? It’s how many centre backs Adams needs on a football pitch to not concede a goal? (And yes it’s not funny, there is no humour in watching Adams defensive substitutions).

Immediately as Jones ran on to line up there was confusion. So many centre backs and no way of keeping hold of the ball, just give it back to Rovers to have another pop. Adams is not the way forward. That game would have been a win under so many other managers. Please go.

Definitely! Songo'o stepped into the middle until Jones told him to get back.

I am pretty sure there was one in the first half - Ruben down the left wing. But even if I am right your observation is still an astute one.

(Just seen Mark’s post making the same observation)

I thought Macey played really well. I didn’t have a great view of the late goal, but what did he do wrong otherwise??

Another entertaining game at Home Park that finished with a frustrating 2-2 draw. On the plus we started the game 3 points clear of the relegation zone but are now 4 points from the drop.

We twice deservedly took the lead and always needed a two goal cushion, we didn't and paid the price in the 91st minute when Rovers grabbed their second equaliser.

Rovers first goal and our second goal was all about the linesman on the Lyndhurst side, we were attacking and the ball clearly went over the line for a corner to us, he didn't give it and Rovers broke away and Clarke-Harris scored a fantastic long range effort.
Our second goal from a Lameiras corner was adjudged over the line by the linesman when Reilly scored an own goal after attempting to head the ball away from danger.

Our attacking display deserved to win the game, Lameiras was superb and linked well with Sawyer and Ness in the first half, Fox pulled the strings and Ladapo was always a threat with his pace.

Graham Carey was out through injury and Ness replaced him - Adams switched to three centre-backs and two wing-backs with a diamond midfield of Lameiras at the tip, Fox at the base, Ness on the left and Sarcevic on the right.

In a great atmosphere (dozens of Rovers fans were stood on the steps because there didn't appear enough seats) we started well and our change in formation seemed to surprise Rovers.
Everything was created down our left side with Lameiras, Sawyer and Ness playing neat triangles and working the ball into good positions.
Ladapo had a low shot that was tipped around the post by Bonham in the Rovers goal, Riley supplied a low fierce cross from the right that just evaded Ladapo at the far post while Lameiras had two efforts from the edge of the area that he hit too high.
Rovers' defenders did well to block shots and close us down but we were guilty of taking one pass too many and not pulling the trigger - we were too elaborate.

On the stroke of half time a rare Rovers attack saw Macey pull of a magnificent close range save, it looked like Nichols had scored but somehow Macey kept it out and the follow up header went over the bar.

We started the second half again on the front foot and this time Lameiras operated more on the right side. We forced a couple of corners and Ness had a shot saved - the pressure was building.

We looked stretched on one Rovers attack with Riley the only defender in the far side of the penalty area, he managed to get a great clearing header on a cross that found its way to Lameiras, he fed Fox who passed back to him, he advanced into the area and sent an angled shot into the far corner for a superb goal and Home Park erupted!

We looked for a killer second goal and with Rovers pushing forward we always had Lameiras and Ladapo ready to break free, however much like the first half we had some promising passages of attacking play that didn't result in a clear chance or shot on goal.

Threlkeld replaced the injured Riley at wing back.

The linesman then played centre-stage, he didn't award us a clear corner and Clarke-Harris rode a few weak tackles and sent a cracking shot into the top corner from 25 yards. It was poor defending from us but you have to admit it was a great goal.

Just three minutes later we got our noses in front again when a Lameiras corner was kindly headed in by Craig, he was unmarked and smashed his header into the crossbar, the ball bounced down and was clearly over the line - all eyes were now on the linesman who has a problem with balls clearly over the line - thankfully he got this decision correct and awarded the goal. A goal and now an assist for Lameiras - Carey who?

The focus now was not to defend too deep and Paul Wotton kept urging the defence to push up.

We still had chances on the counter attack with Ladapo having his best spell of the game. Jones replaced Fox and played in midfield and with time running out it looked like the 3 points would be staying in Plymouth.

In the 91st minute a speculative cross was sent in and Reilly glanced in a header to beat Macey. 2-2 and a late sucker punch.
It was gutting and finished 2-2.

Lameiras had a great game and was the focus of nearly every attack, his work rate - vastly improved since the Burton game in December - was excellent.
Ladapo had good spells and with the new formation he rarely had an Argyle shirt within 10 yards of him.

Fox was exceptional, always finding the right pass and keeping play ticking over

Macey has returned to the team as a totally different and better keeper, one sliced clearance is now a rarity rather than the norm and saved us a point with that fantastic first half save. His overall game has really impoved.

Ness was one of better players in the first half, although as expected he ran out of steam late in the game.

Riley was unlucky with an injury but he did play a big part in preventing Rovers from scoring and then setting up our first goal in the same defensive move.

Edwards was our best defender and won a lot of headers, we needed a bit more from Sarcevic - we still wait for his usual exceptional game from a run of 4 or 5.

Overall, we played really well, it's just that we were caught out with a wonder goal and a late late goal.

The change in formation flooded the midfield and defence but also left Ladapo isolated. Did it work? We didn't lose so yes it did or was the change in formation due to Carey being absent?

Man of the match: Lameiras.

Macey 7, Edwards 7, Songo'o 6, Canavan 6, Riley 7, Fox 7, Sawyer 7, Ness 7, Sarcevic 6, Lameiras 8, Ladapo 6. Subs: Threlkeld 6, Jones n/a.

Is that really how basically you see the game? We were done by a wonder goal and a 'late goal'? It had nothing to do with Adams going to a back 6 for ten minutes and asking Rovers to have a go? That bizarre tactical change doesnt even get a mention. Wow.
Also Riley had been subbed by the time they scored in the 91st so I'm not sure what game you were at
