We do this a lot. Always looking back, not forward.

The Schumacher era was great. But let’s just draw a line under it.

And to be honest if Argyle end up being relegated, it will mean Stoke most likely will have beaten us next week, so his job will be safe.

And if Stoke are relegated, & Argyle are safe, why on earth would be bring him back?

Worth looking at Wednesday verus Stoke highlights.

https://youtu.be/phpdNO6U49k?si=k3W5MYa9En3WKJje

Wednesday deservedly got the lead in the end after some shocking defending by Stoke. However, just like under Schumacher with Argyle, there was a class individual moment which this time came from Cundle. Stoke could have gone on to win, but a goal bound shot was blocked by their own player. At the same time they could have also lost it at the end.

It felt like an Argyle away performance condensed in that 2 minutes highlight package. There is something about Schumacher who gets the results he needs, when he most needs them. Cundle who been hated by Stoke fans suddenly gives them a lifeline. It feels all too familiar unfortunately of Schumacher getting the players to deliver when he most needs them too.

Stoke poached Nathan Jones from Luton in the middle of the season. It didn't work out for Jones at Stoke and he was sacked. Jones then returned to Luton and laid the groundwork for them to get promoted to the Premier League.

Jones has since not been a success wherever he's gone, Luton was clearly the right club for him. Maybe Argyle is the right fit for Schuey and his Stoke experience is making him realise this.

My only concern with playing Schumacher’s Stoke is because Schumacher was a mate to a lot of Argyle players. Will those Argyle players go into the game with the same intensity or motivation as they would any other team knowing that if we win it could lead to a mate getting the sack?
Even a drop off of 5% could lead to a difficult afternoon.

Where's the away section at Stoke in relation to the dugouts/tunnel?
From this it looks like - I think - that the away end is currently on one side of the tunnel. They are moving away fans to a corner from next season it appears to have home fans on either side of the tunnel so I’d imagine they’ll come out right past us which could be entertaining. The pre-match handshakes will make for EXCELLENT viewing…..

Will I boo him? Erm. Yeah I think so, I’m not 100% sure yet. I’ve never loved any argyle manager more than him, not just on the pitch but around the club but I was so angry he left us. That’s the only way I have of showing him that he made a mistake (in my view) but I’ve struggled to find it in me to hate him, I just can’t quite do it. I’d certainly love them to go down, but mainly to remind him he shouldn’t have left.

The reception for the players and Nance should be absolutely raucous and that will show him what he walked away from.

However whoever wrote the screenplay for this season for us I take my hat off to, a chance to secure your championship status with a win away against the manager that walked out on you ? Bravo!

I’ve been thinking that a lot too, yes they are paid professionals but he seemed to be almost a father figure to some of them.

It’s going to be a real challenge for Nance and Dewsnip this week to get this “noisy” part of the day done right. I’m sure it’ll be all the usual platitudes in the pressers etc but it’s not just another game is it ?

Yes, the manager that got us 101 points in a season would be a disaster 6 months later wouldn’t he?
Yes he would. It would be a bad move by the club and would show us as weak feeble that anyone can do the dirty on and be welcomed back with open arms. This "man" left us in the poo in out hour of need, if hed have waited to the end of the season and a similar situation arose he would have still been regarded as a hero

I'd say they'd be even more determined taking into account the manner of his departure & him stating that he wanted to leave before he might have got the sack in the future (implying the current group of players might not be good enough).
He left Argyle at one of the worst parts of the season , resulting in them teetering on the brink of relegation ( he must have known the disruption that leaving at Christmas would cause). He went for an interview while two of his players were in hospital. Apparently, he'd been interviewed for the Swansea job before but kept pledging his allegiance to Simon Hallett's 5 year plan.
Do I hate him ? Of course not.
Am I going to boo him ? Damn right I am 😃

The way he treated our Custodian is the ultimate betrayal after all SH gave him
Would Simon want him back in the fold after 7 months
Simon values integrity which sadly he lacked when he left us high & dry at a vital point of the season
No chance. SH was conned like the rest of us.
