Argyle without Schuey

Since hallett arrived the ethos of the club has been to outperform our budget ..schuey managed this with a mix of man management skills , innovative tactics and good in play tactical changes …since he’s left (pre , during and after foster ) we’ve looked exactly what we are , a club with the lowest budget in the championship.

Having seen what’s happened since he’s left It’s elevated my opinion of his achievements here ( as much as it pains me to say it) .

I love nance , as the players obviously do but there s only so far enthusiasm and bleeding green can get you in this league when your up against sides with much bigger budgets and experienced tactically astute managers in their dugouts.

I think we got lucky with schuey and finding another manager that can spectacularly outperform the budget in such an entertaining manner is gonna be a big ask
Schuey owed us nothing. He gave us some fantastic times and experiences. Seeing how we held off bigger teams(you will note I’ve not used the words so called)because they are bigger teams, at the end of last season was hilarious. This season it’s different. All of the teams leading their respective divisions can be seen as having more than average money to flash around, and higher fan bases. We bucked that last season and I’m proud of that. The way he left us in a helicopter(supposedly)was questionable, but if he wanted to speak to Houghton, Edwards and the squad, he could have rung them. After resigning, if I was a director, I wouldn’t have wanted him anywhere near the place either.
I’m going to paint you a picture. Vodafone v EE. Apart from being in the same sphere of business, EE has a better, bigger staff room, money for more phones and investment, greater potential, better staff(arguably), their office is just round the corner from home, and they’re going to double your wages. Who really wouldn’t strongly consider going?? It’s not as if he’s gone to Exeter, Portsmouth, Bristol City etc. I really really hope he stays up, I hope he goes on to bigger better things. If Ashley Phillips goes on to captain England for example, I would be proud to say that I saw him play in the flesh. Lowe and Schumacher worked, judgement or luck, Foster didn’t, bad judgement or bad luck. That’s irrelevant. We will stay up. I’ve said it all along. It’s for a couple of reasons. The spirit of the team, pride in the shirt, managerial bounce back and the fact that there are 3 less consistent, worse teams than us. Then we grow. Luton, Bournemouth, Brentford have proven that it can be done. Consolidate, choose the right man to take us forward and see where we go. Easier said than done, but why can’t it be done? It’s happened before and it’ll happen again.

Schumachers Stoke are currently one point and one position higher in the table than us with a goal difference -10 worse than ours. They've just lost 3 -0 away to Swansea and a chunk of the Stoke suporters want him out.

Maybe he did see he was going to struggle here as the season wore on but assumed it was our finances, facilites and lack of relative status within the league that was the problem, so he moved to somewhere that was better on all fronts......turns out that at this level, long term, maybe it's him after all.
It’s not him. He’s a talented coach capable of performing at a high level in the Championship. What have Stoke, Norwich, Southampton, Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Watford, West Brom, Portsmouth, Derby and others got in common. They all believe that they have a divine right to be in the Premier League. Their fan base demands it, they want a magic wand and they look at clubs like Burnley, Luton, Bournemouth, Brentford and think why can’t we do it, we’re a bigger club than them. And that’s true, but that doesn’t give them the right. If Stoke rid themselves of him, they’ll be right where they are in five years time

Yep let's get the old team together, will possibly keep hold of Whittaker then
It’s an intriguing intriguing question. I would like to think that Hallett has the clarity of thought to consider it but then dismiss it. Even in the absence of a standout replacement we should move forward. You honestly think that Sean Dyche, Rob Edwards, Eddie Howe, Thomas Frank and Gary O’Neill were standout candidates

His sole remit this season is to keep Stoke up, which he will. He’s working with what he had when he arrived, he’s gone back for Ennis and Cundle which shows he’s not been happy with the players at his disposal. I expect him to have Stoke pushing for play offs next season when he’s given the opportunity to bring in his own squad in the summer
Utterly delusional! Are you married to $$?

Cashmuncher has had 20 league games in charge of Stoke and has gained 4 points more than us in the 20 games since he left but for 14 of those games we had arguably the worst manager in our history.

Schumacher at Stoke: won 6, drawn 5, lost 9. Points 23. Goals for 19, goals against 29.

Argyle since Schumacher left and under Foster for 14 games and Nancesnip for 6 games: won 4, drawn 7, lost 9. Points 19. Goals for 23, goals against 32.
You must be about 10 years old if you think IF was the wordt manager in our history 🤣

I think he's right up there. He was sooooo very bad, a Chairman who can't stand the thought of sacking managers, sacked him.

A complete dog of a manager and hope we never see the like again.

To add to that, I've been here when Kevin Hodges/David Kemp/Bobby Williamson were our manager and he's way way worse than them.

Interesting you think that, you may well be right, but I thought he came in at a very difficult time and obviously it didn't work out, but we weren't battered many matches, lots of silly individual mistakes costing us.

Kemp had no money same as IF. Williamson inherited a good squad and got us in a mess.

And our away record actually improved.

Exactly which part is delusional?

I think the bit about Cundle and Ennis is odd - Stokies seem to think they’re cack and a downgrade on what they had. If I were one of their fans I’d be seeing an amber flag that his only two acquisitions were players he already knew - and one of them in League one who couldn’t make it at a fellow struggling Championship club.

I see Schumacher as a team coach, someone who builds rapport and team ethic but I would be very concerned about his network or eye for a player. So there analysts will be working overtime to line up suitable candidates.

I think he’ll be OK there but they’ll need patience …. Hmmmm.
