Yes, we should have.

2 problems: everyone else at this level is also looking for the same positions. There are only so many players of the required quality to go around.

Secondly, market values are high - few players, high demand. We can't compete financially for the standard of players needed at this level YET.

So yes, we should have brought in attacking players but it wasn't possible. It doesn't always have to be about blame and having someone to target frustrations on.
2 transfer windows we failed to get something 'different' up front. Schuey target Coburn was exactly what was required, it's still required now.

We've scored plenty of goals this season without those 3 players. I'm not convinced that is the issue.
For me, we've lost the transition we once had between defending and attacking. When we had the likes of Cundle and Azaz they could pick a pass and get Whittaker and Hardie released, then contribute to the attack themselves. We don't seem to have that at the moment - the number of mispasses or times we just passed across to other defenders rather than counter last night was infuriating.

I'm not disagreeing that it isn't needed. The point is we tried, especially for Coburn, but it wasn't to be. The club knew what it wanted but couldn't get it. That doesn't mean someone has to be blamed as per the post in capitals.

Yes we tried for Couburn, got told we can have him if and when they find a replacement and then got told after weeks and weeks that they won’t be loaning him out and by then we had no back up plan. So due to that someone has to be blamed surely

Middleborough? for not finding a replacement??

How can it be anyone at Argyle's fault that Boro didn't find a striker in the summer?

Why does someone always have to be blamed? Not just aimed at you, but the blame culture seems to be all consuming.

Because they wasted time hanging on for Middlesbrough to get a striker in

I think the loss of Azaz is the one that has really damaged our style of play and effectiveness as a team. His creativity and brain on the pitch hasn't been rectified up to now. Mind you, losing that type of quality was always going to hard to achieve. Realistically 4 wins is needed to survive which should be achievable, so people suggesting crazy lazy kneejerk type reactions on this site should ease back. New players coming into the team as well as a new manager was always going to be difficult. Look at Stoke and Sunderland, but we don't need a Sunderland type of reaction to create even more chaos. We need calm heads and hearts on and off the pitch. Coygs.!.

There is a whole wide world of players to look at and although everyone else is looking for the same thing we have now missed out on forwards for two transfer windows. Will this continue during the summer, next January etc ?
Perhaps the powers that be at Argyle do not place the same importance on signing forwards that most fans do?

Perhaps we should try harder? All well and good having data analysts but targets have to be realistic.

We shouldn’t have wasted weeks and weeks hanging on to Middlesbrough’s word

Bit slow to the party (!) but replacements for Ennis, Mayor and Cosgrove? This season those three have made 50 appearances and scored 4 goals between them- more than half in League One.
Hardly the suggested goal machines!

So we get someone else in, second choice as it were, and then when Coburn is released we have to put up with second best???

Be in a better situation on the striker front then what we are in now
