Just maybe all the mystery and inneffective mgt is why it's being superceded with something argyle have direct control over.

Does the panel think that Annual DD members will get the outstanding amounts refunded?
I think legally we should have been offered a refund, though I'm sure most would have declined the offer.

I've been paying £9.75 a month since it's started in 2008. It's always a month in advance so no refund due.

I got my letter the day after it was announced on the official site that it was closing.

And as far as I know, I haven’t. Last £9.75 payment was October 24, so last week (which I assume is the last advance payment as it technically ends in November?).

...but those that pay annually?

I note that there was no mention of BGL members' priority of Lincoln tickets. Again, that had been used as a selling point.

Also the same here no letter received, but was set up fine until I changed bank account. Payment was not collected for about 2 months until I noticed informed them that it was not my account number, took another couple of phone calls to them but they had not updated my details again.
Payments go through fine now but to this date not sure if they cancelled my old numbers and gave new(if they did I never received details).
I can see the payments go through but unsure if I am even in the draw.

So, we know that BGL is ending and will be replaced next month. But we don't know any details of its replacement.
For once, I don't think Argyle have covered themselves in glory, here. Unless there is a valid reason to halt it, regardless, I would have thought it better to release details of the new programme first. This would allow members to decide if they wish to 'transfer' or cancel.

The reason they have halted it is pretty clear isn’t it? It’s an absolute shambles and I would think could leave the club exposed to criticism (even when they don’t run it). Whoever does run it should be ashamed of themselves though.

I don’t think they need to announce what will be next until they are ready. It’s not a transfer, people can decide if they want to join or not when details are announced.

Hopefully whatever the club announces is better run than this. Was tempted ages ago to join BGL but reading through the comments put me off

So, based on this post I checked my payments. My Standing Order is taken 10th of the month. Next payment due in couple weeks. Assume I need to cancel although not totally clear on when the BGL ends.

Also using bank info found out I joined in 2010 so earlier than I thought.

Reckon I have 2 or 3 x £10 wins in my 12 years of membership (none in probably last 4 years) despite there being (as far as I know) less than 1,000 members enrolled.

Yes, I know that's not the point of joining the BGL but the new scheme needs to be attractive to encourage a good level of take-up from supporters especially if the incentive on match tickets is disappearing as a benefit.

(y)

That seems to be a recurring theme… you join up, win a couple of times, ‘something’ happens and then it’s radio silence despite the money still coming out. And it officially ends on November 3, and direct debits should be automatically cancelled (obv not if you have a manual standing order). I imagine there will surely be similar benefits with the new scheme, if not actually bigger and better ones.

In 12 years you only won 3 £10 wins??! And there’s less than 1000 members?!

I know it’s all about chance, but something seriously seems dodgy there.

EDIT: Are you sure you were included in each draw for each month?

That's about the same for me, I can't remember the last time I won £10 but it's at least 5 or 6 years ago.
Off the pitch the club has improved 100% but the management of the BGL has been a shambles and let down the good done on other aspects of the club.

The BGL Twitter account wasn't used for 2 years at a time when other club Twitter accounts are fantastic for up to date information, the BGL Twitter account has now finally been put to rest.

The article says direct debits will automatically stop but I fully expect mine to continue until I stop it.

I think because the money is for the Academy the management of the BGL have had an easy ride over this.

In reply to your edited comment. No.

Like others on this thread have said, the money has been taken monthly. My membership number is/was 724. But Keyham Pilgrim posted the other day his number appeared to have changed (when he had a win) from 708 to 1494. Don't understand that.

Some members have had letters advising of the closure in recent weeks. Equally others, including me, have had no communication at all and have only the club site article as information.

As PL2 says, it's probably the poorest aspect of the club currently.

I've been in it for many years, can only remember 3 or 4 £10 squid 🦑 wins in that time.
Sure the money goes to the Club but any competition needs to work 'properly' to sustain itself?
Any organisation taking £10 a month from 1,000 participants (that's a lot of money!) needs to be regulated and audited annually surely?
Did that happen?

Exactly, even talking about it on here we always preface it with ‘well I don’t really mind because I’m not in for the money, but….’.

Ultimately it is called a lottery though, so it has to properly work like one.
