How are we going to score enough

Hope it is not the case on relying on 1 player (Finn Azaz) to pull the team together by their boot straps to get the win - we need all the players to be on the same hymn sheet

Yes it is early days & Schuey will no doubt be pulling is hair out - we just don' know how long it will take to click
I thought as soon as mayor came on azaz went dead quiet

I'm sure Schuey will analyse and tweak accordingly but I do think we are potentially entering the realms of becoming a one goal (at best) a game team on performances this season and at the end of last

We didn't struggle for goals last season?!
We scored the joint least of any of the top ten at less than 1.5 per game and it looks like a continuation of being goal shy with one from open play in 270 mins.
I haven't claimed the formation change is responsible...I simply don't think the personnel are good enough. If Hardie doesn't have a reasonable season again then I'm scratching my head at who of the other 3 are going to chip in with 15 goals this season.

The average of the other 9 teams is 76 goals. We scored 68.

68/46 = 1.47 goals per game
76/46 = 1.65 goals per game

So the difference across a 46 game stretch, which is a pretty large sample size, is 0.18 goals per game more. If you want to argue that that is significant, then I'd love to see the rational behind such thinking. If they all scored 7 goals in one game, and we only scored 1 in one game, then maybe - but 7-10 short across a 46 game stretch is a pretty poor justification to say that we struggled to score goals.

MK Dons scored 78 last season. We got 68. Now, if we beat them 5-0 on the last day of the season, we'd have both ended up on 73 a piece. That's literally a 1 game swing. It's not like despite that there is a 20 goal gap. Suddenly, in 1 game, we'd be level. So it's difficult to really justify the idea that we struggled to score goals.

Just people over reacting to how we have started the season, I didn't care about tonight's mickey mouse cup, do we ever take it seriously?
The line up would suggest its just an exercise, a chance for some other players to get a run out, it will be the same in the pizza cup.
We cant really go on about last season....that was last season fgs
This season we are two meaningful matches in and its a slow start for some and an ok start for others, but the team need time to find their stride and i am sure they will, if they don't then I'm quite sure the manager will revert back to what we had last season.
Why stress over silly things?

Could and should have 6 against Barnsley, it won't click every week but there is goals in the team with azaz and mayor in the team. Whittaker and jeph as a plan b is the concern as they are not attacking midfielders

The plan B should be Jephcott up front in a 2 with Hardie or if he’s not available then Whittaker.

Could have had six but didn't and therein lies the concern for me. Everything else is pretty decent but not the end product. At the end of the day in the last 10 league games we've only scored 4 goals. Against a good MK side in a must win we didn't get an effort on target. Prior to that we did score more in games but against some struggling teams.
It is early days, the team has to blend etc and tonight's game doesn't really mean much but the warning lights are there....

If you listen to Schumacher interview Jephcott did go upfront. He swapped with Ennis who went in the no10 role. Schumacher said he was pleased with the performance from this moment they swaped around 35th min as the ball was the link up play was better.

Same answer as always. Money

When your rivals have two, three or four times your wage budget then you are going to find it difficult to find goal scorers to fit your wage budget.

Last season we struggled to make chances. Especially away from home. Go back to the 26th of March.

Ipswich away battered us. We hardly made a chance.

Oxford at home. A individual brilliant acute volley by Edwards. Otherwise little chances

Burton away. 0-0. 2 shots on target.

Wycombe away. Battered. Hardly a shot on target.

Sunderland home. 0-0. Competitive but didn’t look like scoring.

Wigan away. A error from them leads to Jephcott scoring. Otherwise they battered us.

And finally MK Dons. Where we missed a couple of Jephcott chances early on but after that it was all them

Its not a new thing. We struggled last season to create chances, let alone score goals. Thankfully earlier in the season we had individual moments of good play and were clinical in it. We kept 18 clean sheets. That tells us surely where we won matches.

It wasn’t wave after wave of attacking football. Like Lowe always painted the picture our team should be capable of playing.

Why stress over silly things?
Because the issue that derailed our season last year was the size of the squad and the lack of quality in the squad when there are injuries.
Has that changed this year?
