I’m not his biggest fan cause I don’t like that style of player, but it’s foolish to say he hasn’t held his own even tho double figures in his last couple of seasons as well not starting week in week out.. look around there ain’t many strikers that can say that in this league. Say he was lucky when scoring, so is he unlucky when he goes through a patch of not 🤷‍♂️

He isn't a fast striker so he uses his brain to get in the right places, he scores what appear to be easy goals but the hard part is getting in the right place.
He helps in the build up play, he sets others up, how is he not doing what is required of a striker?
You make your own luck in football the same as you do in life, if he wasn't a league one standard of player and not rated by our management team then he wouldn't be here.
Name me one striker who doesn't go through purple then black patches?
Total nonsense EYEOPENER, he is a decent striker at league one level, and as for the national team..... he's in with as much a shout as anyone, play well and you'll be selected.

I agree JJ, opinions are like a*seholes…everyone has one.

Thing is though, has he really held his own in league one? Does he continue to develop? I would say ‘no’ on both.

The lucky run he had in front of goal dried up a long time ago and I would say his performances at the tail end of the season showed that he has most definitely not developed.

He will no longer feature in the National side and whereas he will most probably start the first few games, I don’t think it will be long before he starts to get a regular slot on the subs bench. Schuey will be loyal to him in the early part of the season but he isn’t stupid enough to continue flogging a dead horse.
Lucky run 🙄 I guess Tommy Tynan was lucky and players like Jimmy Greaves before him. Even these two had off days before you start about his performance against Franchise on the final day of last season.
Whether he is a fit for us, is open to debate but he will score goals and continue to develop of that I am certain.

Oh indeed we all have one and some are bigger and some are louder than others.
Absolutely he has held his own with one of the better goals per minute ratios in League 1.His link up play has also improved as he has been trusted to fulfil other roles in the team. He hasn't been used as an out and out finisher for some time. Some will argue that is detrimental to his goal output, some will argue he offers more to the team as a whole now. The management and coaching staff have thought him a key member of the squad for several seasons now and I trust their judgement.

I’m pretty sure that they’ll be offering him a new Contract soon then considering this is his last Contracted season at Argyle…
Yes I think he will, unless of course we are looking good for promotion and they don't feel he's good enough for a further league up.
In my opinion he will get one regardless as he is a poacher and he will poach goals in leagues one two and championship

Ahh...I see where you're coming from.

You seem to think that as a striker all you have to do is score goals. You obviously don't think that there is more to the role.
I mean, that's the biggest thing, right? That's like me saying "You seem to think that as a Firefighter all you have to do is put out fires." or "You seem to think that as a Waiter all you have to do is serve food." Of course there are other duties, but we are all aware of the primary duty.

Please tell me more about Jephcott's lacking qualities, Sir...

He a CF not a striker.

It’s not the assessment of his qualities I’m disputing it’s the comment that he is “not holding his own”. There are a lot of ways he can improve, no doubt, but his goal scoring record is proof he is “holding his own”.

If he was having no impact at all your comments may have some substance to them. But he score goals and gets assists which is the primary function of a forward player.

Indeed, shown in our hardest on paper pre-season friendly where we drew 1-1, Hardie with a late goal assisted by a certain Luke Jephcott - and that was against a CHAMPIONSHIP team.

There has to be a reason why Wales keep on picking him. I don’t think he’s there just to make up the numbers.
I don't think Wales U21 are currently flush with great attacking talent - and consequently they're not very good. Anyway, that's finished for Luke now.

Jephcott is League two level. By posting this, you obviously think the rumour may actually have some credibility and that he could play in the Championship.

Where has all the common sense gone?🤦‍♂️
I said it was a rumour , take chill pill eh ...read the post !

I agree. Luke was part of a team that was full of players that weren't very good...

As you say, he's finished with the U-21's now. Wont be long before he's in the main squad, after all, surely they would take on a Championship standard player...
