With law also I would not be surprised if the player we are after is Steven sessegnon. Offered new contract a few weeks ago but not yet signed. A player like law that needs first team football but not going to get it at Fulham with them being promoted.
The problem there is that we'd have to pay a fee since Fulham have offered him a contract.

The guy has made 30 appearances in the Championship and represented England in six different age groups. We'd likely have to pay Fulham a significant chunk of change plus potential add-ons and a sell-on percentage.

Why are you getting caught up on the years? It’s irrelevant, otherwise you’re judging Jephcott on games he didn’t play in. The appearances are the relevant factor.
I guess it’s being prolific and consistent.

Mays stats look better than Jephcotts. They aren’t equal in the slightest.

If you want consistency why are you discounting Alfie May’s spell at Doncaster, where he managed four seasons consisting of 4, 3, 2 and 1 league goal…

Having paid all that money, there's then the problem that he won't be picked at RWB as our captain plays there. Far too expensive for a squad player.

I thought the plan was to have a bigger squad than last year. From Schmacher's comments we will bring in a total of 5, but have returned last season's 4 loanees and plan to send Law out on loan.

Given but how far back do we go for comparison?

Do we go back to his early non league days where he was almost 1 goal to 1 game ratio?

There’s argument for and against on all comparisons but I think if Alfie May was available in whatever transfer scenario, the general fanbase would see it as a significant improvement on what we have available today.

If by asking who I would pick in a front 2 to partner another striker.. Jephcott or May, id go for May 99 times out of 100.

Was he talking about loan additions or permanent signnngs?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next few additions are permanent and we see another 1 or 2 come on before the loan window closes and teams know more about there teams.

Well for Jephcott you seem to want to go back four years but for May only two years, seemingly ignoring the fact that they have played almost the same amount of games in those respective time frames.

Because that was the period of which the goals were scored. I appreciate there are other factors to consider but I was keeping it light.

You continue your love for Jephcott, I’m not knocking it but to say there’s not a lot of difference between the 2 is a little ludicrous.

I think the big thing being missed here is how the management see the players fitting into a certain system and the wider contribution to the team.

Not everything is about goals per game.

Yes I hear what both of you are saying, and it would be a big step of intention by us to sign him. I think they have offered the contract to get a transfer fee for him because they were prepared to transfer him last January. It was reported that he was going to Hull but they got their first choice player and it broke down. Still the same manager there I think so why the change in stance on planning to keep him when they are a league higher. As I said would not be surprised if we did sign him.

I’d take a goals per game factor pretty highly for a striker.

I get the sentiment but as long as the player is fit, within budget and not a complete tosspot (Ladapo) I rate the ‘goals per game’ element one of, if not the highest of stats that I would be interested in.

I liked Sessegnon last season. Yes, Fulham have offered him a new contract, but the chances of him getting games is remote now that they are back in the Premiership. I reckon the new contract is merely to ensure that they receive a transfer fee for him. Some say that this puts him out of our reach. However, what if he really wants to come here, and that fee can be negotiated down to say £20,000/£30,000. He'd be well worth it. A good age and good pedigree. Surely, we'd go for that??
