What’s that Pompey striker we were close to signing before?

Harris?

Based on what I have seen, Ryan has to up his game to become Championship material. I don't think that playing only a few games will improve him. However, going out on loan to another L1 side and playing as a left back may we'll help his development, where he can hone his defensive skills.
Play well for half a season, get a new contract and replace Grant once Grant's contract expires and he leaves.
Alternatively, Tugboat's scenario comes true.
Did FGR lose their two highly regarded wing backs this year? Might be a good shout (My Exeter comment earlier was in jest).

We shouldn’t go near Marquis or May, particularly if there’s a fee involved. May has had one prolific season in his whole career and his scoring rate is actually no better than Jephcott who most on here consider needs to improve. Marquis is not the player he was a couple of years ago either and is on the way down rather than up.

I wonder whether we’d be interested in a loan move for Georgie Kelly. We were obviously keen on him in January and now that Rotherham have gone up a division they may want him to spend a season on loan at L1 level. League of Ireland to Championship is quite a step up.

scoring rate no better than Jephcott ??

May’s goal tally is similar to Jephcott, given. But May’s 38 goals is over 2 year period whilst Jephcotts 33 goals tally in over a 4 year period.

With regard to Lawsy- surely he has to be agreeable to a season long loan away from the Theatre of Greens
He certainly has a lot to mull over now that we have signed Mikel Miller - will be interesting to see if he does choose a season long loan elsewhere which club he signs for

May 45 in 119 vs Jephcott 37 in 114. Not much difference for a rumoured fee of 500k is it.
May has scored 38 goals in 102 appearances for CTFC over a 2 year period.

Jephcott has scored 33 goals on 103 appearances for Argyle over a 4 year period.

Couldn't that stat also be read in Jephcott's favour - if he has those appearances over that much longer he's in and out of the team more - certainly in the earlier part of the period. Arguably fewer runs of games means less momentum/less sharpness

Marquis is a free agent. He’s only 30 and is more than capable of scoring goals at this level. Even just a one year deal to see what he can do. Keep him fit and he’d easily get into double figures for us imo. He was very good for Lincoln at HP when they beat us.

A quick Google of his name shows him being strongly linked with AFC Wimbledon.

It's a shame for Law, the writing was on the wall at the away game at Sunderland last season when firstly Broom was selected ahead of him to play at left wing-back and then followed by Edwards while Law was an unused sub.

It was surprising he was given another contract.
Law is 23 in September and now finds himself as third choice left wing-back and is not helped by not being able to play in other positions.

Why are you getting caught up on the years? It’s irrelevant, otherwise you’re judging Jephcott on games he didn’t play in. The appearances are the relevant factor.
