When compared to this season a season ticket has increased £37 or 11%.

Last season it was £320 for existing members and the same if we were promoted to League One if you were an Earlybird, this season it's £357.
New members/Earlybirds would have paid £336 this season if we were promoted in 2016, rising to £399 after the Earlybird offer.

The cost of watching a higher standard of football means we are paying 11% more.

The £320 cost for a season ticket has been at that price for several years so a small increase for League One football is to be expected. £357 is a saving of £5.48 per game on pre-match tickets or £7.48 on match day tickets.

The increase is fair and understandable.

Loyal customers?????????? A bit too steep in my opinion  An increase of £1.60 per game for ST holders......and match day prices only rise by a pound????

Good to see it out and it seems pretty good value overall. Slightly curious under 18 pricing- from £5 to £8- 60% increase seems out of line with the rest.

Now, I'll confess to not having a financial mind, but does anyone out there know how other teams survive/thrive on much lower season ticket prices?

As a northern exile I keep an eye on my local clubs and Bradford have just sold 18000 season tickets at £149 (rising to £299 in May) and Huddersfield (who could be in the Prem) are charging £199. It really doesn't make sense to me.

Anyone able to enlighten me to the economics of it?

Under 18 early bird price up by 25% - Argyle seem to be penalising the youngsters, the very people we want to encourage to attend.

Money in, money out. So inbound it's likely to be down to benefactors, advertising, sponsorship, multi-purposing facilities etc. and outbound it's things like wage structure and an external cost base (suppliers, transport, maintenance etc). Ownership/ rent will also have an impact.

I'm sure there are lots of other issues to consider on top. BTW I have no idea how those two teams are financed.

Pretty sure I read that a club (maybe rochdale) will set their prices depending on how many season tickets they can sell. Did anyone else see this?

Re. The Northen Clubs

Bradford have 18000 regulars prepared to stump up as a minimum.

Huddersfield could have obscene Premier League riches and they are obviously already a Championship Club that have taken a calculated risk.

On secondment in Kent
Bradford and Huddersfield have probably got a bigger "interested" (not potential) fanbase than us so they know if they charge a low price, they will sell the full allocation. Price elasticity.

18000 tickets at £199 is still generating £3.58m of ticket revenue (minus taxes and the usual costs).

Whereas Plymouth may hope to get 5-6000 ST holders (@£357) generating £1.79-2.14m ticket revenue (minus taxes and the usual costs).

Therefore I think it partly comes down to the potential fanbase being too small in Plymouth to generate enough revenue to support the players wages that we want/need. We could sell ST for £150 and I doubt we would get much more than 8000 subscribed.

8000 ST sold at £223 would bring in the same revenue as 5000 ST sold at £357. Question is, would we sell 8,000 at that price?

No mention of new refurbished grandstand. Work was said to be planned to commence by Xmas, so main grandstand regulars would have had to move to the horseshoe then. Could it possibly be that commencement of grandstand works have been 'delayed'? (They didn't say which Xmas.....................)
