As a lover of basically all genres of music(Well except rap haha) this was very hard to put together for me, but I have narrowed it down to these 10. Curious how many others might have some of these on there's:

1-Iron Maiden-Hallowed be Thy Name
2-Creedence Clearwater Revival-Bad Moon Rising
3-Metallica-Master of Puppets
4-Neil Young-Heart of Gold
5-Deep Purple-Smoke on the Water
6-Billy Joel-We Didn't Start the Fire
7-Bob Dylan-Blowin in the Wind
8-The Byrds-Eight Miles High
9-R.E.M.-Losing My Religion
10-Iron Maiden-Run to the Hills

You can narrow it down to 10? I guess I would have to pick songs for various parts of my life, then I also have songs that have a lot of meaning to me, but not necessarily “my favourite“. I’m going to have to think about those songs that make you stop what you’re doing and turn the volume up. Tough one this.

Richard Thompson - 1952 Vincent Black Lightning
Neu! - Hallogallo
Al Stewart - Nostradamus
Fairport Convention - She Moves Through the Fair
Hawkwind - Spirit of the Age
The Monkees - Me and Magdalena
The Temptations - Papa Was a Rolling Stone (the album version, with the extra long intro)
David Sylvian - Orpheus
Bob Seger - Hollywood Nights
The Passions - I'm In Love With a German Filmstar

I'll probably have a new list by 9am...

Some great stuff there. Me And Magdalena, wow, a beautiful song. Anything by Fairport is top.
Impossible for me to do a top 10. Just too many to narrow down and list.

Bob Dylan: Lay lady lay

As everyone else has said, so difficult to do, there really are hundreds, nay thousands, of great songs.
But here are my 10 for this moment in time (listed alphabetically to avoid favouritism):

Beach Boys - Good Vibrations
Bjork - Unravel
Budgie - Breadfan
Can - Mary, Mary So Contrary
Fleetwood Mac - Man of the World
King Crimson - Starless
Mott The Hoople - Waterlow
Mountain - Theme for an Imaginary Western
Peter Hammill - A Louse is Not a Home
Talk Talk - I Believe In You

Mine will change regularly but the top 3 or 4 will always stay the same.

Guns n Roses - Sweet Child of Mine. The song that really launched the band and THAT album, the juxtaposition of a love song, almost a lullaby, with crashing heavy metal guitars.

Blondie - Angels on the Balcony. A track tucked away on the Autoamerican opus, written by the keyboard player who had a knack of writing great Blondie songs.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama.

Thunder - A Better Man, a slower Thunder track with great lyrics.

Creedance Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son.

Boston - Hitch A Ride although it could have been any track from the fantastic debut album.

REO Speedwagon - Roll With The Changes.

Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive.

Montrose - Bad Motor Scooter.

Poison - Nothing But a Good Time.

Waiting in the wings as first sub - Rush - Tom Sawyer.

Time to create a Spotify playlist!

These are 10 tracks I like that involve the Moon. Two* would also be in my top ten for a desert island, but deciding the other 8 is too hard and changes during the day:

Van Morrison - Moondance*
Cat Stevens - Moonshadow
Waterboys - The Whole of the Moon
Paul Weller - Moon on your Pijamas
David Bowie - Moonage Daydream
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
King Crimson - Moonchild
Police - Walking on the Moon
Cassandra Wilson - Harvest Moon*
Diana Krall - East of the Sun (West of the Moon)

I once gave a lecture about the Moon to first year students, and had a Moon playlist gently running in the background as an experiment. Several students asked after if they could have the list.

An almost impossible task, I could choose 10 favourites just from Show of Hands alone but I've tried to play fair and pick a representative sample of my musical tastes.

So, in random order

The Corner of the Room - Oysterband
Get Out of Denver- Eddie and the Hotrods
I Am The Sword - Motorhead
Pilgrim - Steve Earle and the Del McCoury Band
I'll See You in my Dreams - Bruce Springsteen
Silver Machine - Hawkwind
Firebird - McDermotts 2 Hours
Saints and Angels -Sharon Shannon and the Waterboys
