This could have been a big chance to show the World how good he is but I think it's too much for him. Would rather Rashford started against Sweden.
Sterling was very good the other night. He’s the only one who runs in behind and his movement was exceptional and caused Colombia a lot of trouble. Our issue is playing him, Alli and Lingard means we have nobody playing between the lines. I would personally start Loftus Cheek in Alli’s place and allow Lingard to play higher up. I know Alli has been part injured, but he has been very poor and it’s been a long while since he delivered for England.
'Exceptional'? Really? Where was the end product? Kept running down blind alleys.
I never said the end product was exceptional. His movement dragged defenders out of position, created space for team mates, enable Kane to drop deeper when he needed too. Personally I think he’s important to the balance of the team. The lack of balance comes in midfield for me.
