No he played LCM 1st half I think, and then seemed to switch to Mayor's vacant position 2nd half.
Smith Brown played CB I think as there were no WB's in that formation.

My thoughts.
In the end we played exceptionally well.
Massive contrast under Lowe compared to Adams, mainly second halves are completely different now where we are 2-0 up and looking for a third and fourth, whereas before we would play backs to the wall and lose many many leads playing this method which basically relegated us. So very refreshing to see us not resort to that anymore.
I think we good for next season, I was confident before now I'm even more confident. The longer the game went on the better we looked basically whereas I don't remember that being the case at all last season. Whenever we had a lead we'd always try and hold on to it and 9/10 it didn't work.
In the end a comfortable win.

Players wise: not too impressed with GK looked nervous, and against better opposition he could be another Macey tbh although it's early days probably unfair to judge him on a couple of games.
Sawyer doesn't look like he fits the system just painfully slow and can't turn.
Mayor looked ok but sure he's better than Carey or Ruben but again it's early days. Looks a good replacement for Carey because they are similar players (Left footed, set piece specialist, decent shot, can dribble past players).
Fletcher gave 100% but missed a sitter and like last season may not feature very much.
Lolos looked tidy but light-weight.
Moore looked excellent, Riley looked solid. Moore probably the better of the 2.
C Grant played LWB I think and looked good.
Telford came on and looked decent reminded me of MacLean whereas he can playmake but probably won't score much. But looks tidy on the ball which is good.
Taylor looked decent, surprised me a bit because I was starting to write him off.
J Grant looked decent, fit, wealth of experience, and had an excellent goal disallowed for a foul I think in the build up.

Side note also tried a Denzil's and it was good but not quite as good s the Ginster's at Argyle.

Just a word of caution,we were only playing Plymouth Parkway.

So unlike you to be negative!

Not negative just being cautious. I saw them lose at Truro and today they won. Both games against non league opposition.
Only friendlies so neither game proves anything.

Left midfield then.

He played right midfield. Mayor started left midfield then was replaced at half-time by Lolos playing there. Joel Grant finished the game on left after initially replacing C Grant on the right..

I have a really good feeling about Lolos this season. We could have a gem on our hands there, and it's about time. Ditto for Randell.

You're right.
Then again if they didn't mean anything nobody would turn up. :eh:

Agree  some decent Youth pushing through at last. The last one was Purrington so to have 4 or 5 (Cooper, Sangster, Randell, Lolas, Jephcott) knocking is brilliant. Maybe RL will give youth more of a chance than DA.

Saying that I don't see Cooper as Youth. He should be playing 1st team football.

Perhaps we are seeing the benefits beginning to show of all the work and changes to the youth development set up including joining the SWPL , the Central League and the PL Cup that Adams instigated.

Agreed he just hasn't kicked on
Sadly I think Jephcott will go the same way.

Anyone standing close to the dugout yesterday would have witnessed the constant emphasis on getting forward - whether it be the wing backs, the back three or the centre three of the five in midfield almost every vocal instruction was a positive one.

Without question Moore, Smith-Brown and Riley relished every opportunity to get up the pitch. On one attack Riley and Smith- Brown were the furthest forward. Whoever is the first choice keeper he is under orders to release it swiftly often to either wing back hugging the touch line. Randell revelled in the role as a central pivot. Mayor is obviously a class act - more stroller than high energy he was always looking for the defence splitting pass. Plenty to come from him I suspect.

To play the pacy high impact game in the opponentā€™s half that Lowe and Schumacher advocate we need a keeper comfortable with his feet as a sweeper keeper and who can claim a high ball in the area and release it quickly. I am not sure Holmes fitted that bill. Equally, the three at the back will need some pace to recover any errors or misplaced passes. We seem short of pace although Aimson may fit this bill.

Midfield looks quite strong. Mayor and Edwards will be starter. I wouldnā€™t be surprised to see the admirable Randell starting. He looks a real find. Up top Telford looks the ā€˜fox in the boxā€™ type we have not had for a while. Taylor may combine well with him. Lolos looked more promising on the left of the middle three.

So all in all some good work in progress and I suspect that Ryan Loweā€™s promise to get ā€˜bums off seatsā€™ may well be realised. Whether that translates into a promotion team only time will tell but I am hopeful, with a few more strategic acquisitions that Saturdays will no longer be a convivial afternoon, interrupted by 90 minutes of football but rather much more the other way around!

Sadly I think Jephcott will go the same way.

To be honest, I donā€™t think I could name a game where Fletcher has impressed me. I tend to compare him to the likes of Harvey, Lecointe, Rooney etc who broke through in the same position and I donā€™t think heā€™s close to the first two.

As for Jephcott, I always thought it was weird that of all the youngsters who got minutes it was him. It was almost like Adams saw him get called up to the Wales u21s, so thought ā€œoh he must be decentā€ and chucked him in. In the few youth games I had seen, he never stood out and was definitely behind the likes of Battle. Donā€™t get me wrong, Jephcott isnā€™t a bad player, but I certainly donā€™t think heā€™s the stand out of our youngsters and I also donā€™t see how he fits in Ryan Loweā€™s system.

On the subject of Argyle youth, Parkway had a player called Copp who I'm pretty sure was one of ours. He did some really good clever things in the match yesterday. Don't know what others thought but he looked too good for that level to me.

Yep Jordan Copp. Believe he made his debut v Millwall in the league cup a number of years ago. Always showed promise when he played and then to my bemusement he was released. Spent most of his time with Truro and Weymouth since.

Always thought he looked every bit as good as Luke Young when I saw him.
