Blimey, what is it with the older players Akinfenwa and now Martin.
They are at the end of their careers, we should not be looking at these type of players. Thought Martin was rubbish against us.
I think we have to remember that our three strikers are currently 21, 22 and 24 years old.
An older experienced head would not go amiss.

Not sure we'd be able to match the wages that Martin would want, although perhaps a season on loan would be possible

I would guess we'd be looking at someone 25-29 who is with a team who has been promoted from this level but who is now out of favour. Someone we could loan with a view to signing.

Connor Wickham... 🤔🤔 Why not... Would fit exactly what we are looking for and surely a modest wage is better than no wage... 🤔🤔
He’s certainly the right size of striker at 6ft 4 that would give us a totally different style of play should we need it in certain games.

A fit version would certainly be an asset, although he has had terrible injury problems. 41 league starts in 6 seasons at Palace says it all.

Well im surprised no one has mentioned Brett Pitman or Danny Hylton- those names get mentioned every transfer window

Brett Pitman is knocking on a bit & got relegated with Swindon

Danny Hylton has a serious attitude problem & has RL mentioned we dont sign *******ds

So does RL get a player on a season long loan with an option to buy at the end or does he go & get a player on a permanent deal

All the financials that play out in the pursuit of a player is mind boggling as surely RL will want to keep some of the budget in reserve come January

Looking forward to seeing what kind of striker RL brings in , will it be an experienced free agent like Kyle Vassell , Max Biamou or Connor Wickham , or maybe an experienced loanee such as Chris Martin from Bristol City or Josh Magennis from Hull or a younger player from a Championship or Premier Division side either permanently or on loan with a view to permanent deal , such as George Miller or George Hirst (who is currently on trial at Portsmouth with a view to a loan deal) or finally an unproven Non League player like Kabongo Tshimanga who has a good goalscoring record at that level .

Sort of tried it with big Frank but maybe the limitation was the player rather than the system?
tbf Frank Nouble has a worse goals to games ratio than Wickham and hasn't played at anywhere near the same standard over his career. Wickham had one transfer for £8.1m and is 18 months younger than Frank. But those who have mentioned his injury record recently are right to do so... but if he could stay fit he's be the sort of player that could take us into the championship imho with an Ennis - Wickham partnership.
