Think the first season saw a two legged "final". Is that right?

No idea on goalscorers though.
Yes the first few were 2 legged. The first one was played at the beginning of the next season. Weather was appalling (rain) late winter and early spring 1961. Argyle's fourth round with Villa took nearly 2 months to settle. Villa lost 2-0 to Rotherham first leg but won second leg 3-0 at. Their goals were scored by Alan O'Niell, Harry Burrows and Peter McParland each of whom would play for Argyle later in their careers.

Saw Harry B play for Argyle but not the others. Think Harry was very much in the autumn of his career then and when super Hugh McAuley arrived to provide the crosses for Paul and Billy his days were numbered.

O'Niell was the first to arrive in Dec 62. In March 1960 he scored a hatrick for Sunderland v Argyle at Roker in a 4-0 win. Our manager Jack Rowley was sacked the next day, despite the fact that he had been at Birmingham watching their reserves. He had agreed a fee for Alex Jackson who was surprised to arrive in Plymouth three days later to find Jack gone. Fast forward nearly 3 years and Jackson breaks a leg v WBA in Jan 63. Argyle need a centre forward and sign one of the biggest names ever, Peter McParland. He was at Wolves by then but had made his name at Villa. In 1957 he scored twice in a 2-1 victory over pre Munich Man U in the FA Cup Final, controversially injuring the United keeper Ray Wood when scoring one of the goals. In 1958 he helped Northern Ireland to the QF of the World Cup, scoring 5. Although he occasionally played at centre forward he made his name as sn outside left. After one game at Argyle as a centre forward he went back to left wing. Although he did well personally the team performed badly. Burrows played most of his career in the top tier, playing 150 times for Villa and more than 270 times for Stoke. He was definitely past his best when he came here. That is all I can remember!
