How about Jimmy Spencer?

He was solid in L2 for how we played, not sure he could do the job here in L1. At best he’s a sub. I agree with many others that we need someone who is capable of denoting Taylor or could provide an equally competent difference to our playing style.

If we had retained Jimmy Spencer, then after the ankle break for Taylor, I feel sure we would have massed more than 5 points from thirteen.

Quite right. Other than maybe four or five poor games, he was very useful at helping us on the attack; he holds the ball up well and finds a good header/pass onto a teammate. If he's available, I'd take him on a deal until the end of next season.

Agree with both these sentiments.

I thought he turned us down, rather than us releasing him...?

If so I’d say we offered terms to reflect that rejection.

And he possibly had a false sense of his own value as a pro footballer?
We can stop talking about what may or may not have been in that case. We didn't offer him a contract.

Noted with thanks. He will make a living for himself somewhere.
