Agreed. The FA Cup should be the definition of competitive football and a highlight of any fan’s season—the Argyle fans and the Stevenage fans deserve to see Argyle put out a full strength side. The league is obviously important for a team like ours, but the league has never been everything to any English football team. While the logic of using the next two cup games as partial rest games for key players is sound, the FA Cup is a competition in which we should be looking to progress. Think what the greater benefits could be to the club, for instance, if we got a series of soft draws that took us as far as the fifth round. Sure—there are many better teams than Argyle that will be in the hat for Round 2, but there will be some beatable opponents too, and only one team can finish the tournament unbeaten.

Ah so you reckon we might win it?

Let’s not get carried away... but what’s the point in playing in any competition if you don’t set up to try and make a game of it. Consider what might have happened next if Jervis’s late late effort at Anfield had gone in off the post; look at how far some small teams can get every now and again with favourable draws; and think back to our last good cup run in the league cup—that was great, wasn’t it, even if we did come up short against Watford yet again.

Yes—you’re right, the 2007 Watford game was in the FA Cup. That Watford team were very beatable too.
Who did we have (on loan I think) upfront again for that match? Had numerous chances to level after there goal from a short corner.

Fantastic evening

Apart from bleddy Foster.

Yes, that’s a (bad) memory! Frustratingly fantastic wasn’t he? If I’ve seen a finer display by an opposing goalie at Home Park I don’t want to remember it; that was fine enough!

Sadly I’m in Gibraltar for a long weekend, I can see a result here though

Sad at being in what's left of Gib or sad at missing the FA Cup First Round ? :)

With the weather, how is the pitch going to be? I know it could have monsoons and still be ok but we’ve had a lot of rain today and tonight.

Also are we not doing armed forces day tomorrow? Seems they have missed a little bit of a trick
