Must have missed that one. I saw them, I think in Castaways possibly before it was Castaways. I also saw Dire Straights there as support for ... can't remember. It says something about Dire Straights when they were more memorable than the main act, in fact they were bleddy good. I think I also saw the Saints there (at least I think it was the Saints) when there was such a small crowd (possible less than 20) that after the interval, the lead singer came back on stage naked saying he always wanted to play naked and twenty people watching was just about doable.
I think Dire Straits were support to The Climax Blues Band.
I saw The Stranglers at Castaways in 77. In fact I think that was my first gig.

Yes you are right. I was at the FE College and somehow became one of the union Officers ... that's another story. Anyway the events guy booked Climax Blues Band and we got the posters printed and at the last minute, Dire Straights were added ... not even sure if we paid them but I had to go around to all of the posters and add at the bottom in thick black marker ... plus Dire Straights.
I missed the Stranglers ... my bad and also missed the Jam which I wasn't too into at the time but later became my favorite band ... after the Doors.

First: Queen at the Rainbow, Finsbury Park.
Worst: Poliça at the Button Factory, Dublin. It was freezing, the singer had a cold, couldn’t sing and clearly did not want to be there (not unreasonably).
Best: Led Zep at Earl’s Court
Most recent: Fontaines DC at the Ulster Hall here in Belfast

A “concert” I remember was the Tremeloes at Tiffs in Town where the roadies stripped naked, last thing I expected.😃

First... Iron maiden somewhere in time tour at the Cornwall coliseum. 1986?
Worst...Was forced to watch Marillion once as my friend had a spare ticket and didn't want to go alone. They were...tedious.
Best... Iron maiden are always good value but I think the most fun was the Sugarcubes in London. They had a then unknown Bjork on lead vocals. They played in a tiny basement to about 50 people. I spent the entire set no more than three feet from Bjorks face as there was no stage riser. Wish I'd taken a camera.
Last... The Cure in London about 8 years ago maybe. I need to get out more.

Last - Magnetic Fields at Bristol St George’s

Off to see War on Drugs next at Eden. Never know, I may see some of you there

First Gig: Ultravox, Cornwall Coliseum, around 1986 for their U-Vox tour.

Worst Gig: The Feeling, circa 2004-05. I had just started dating this woman who really wanted to see them play at some small venue in Taunton. They were crap, I was bored, but I was on a promise, so....

Best Gig: Probably R.E.M. at Cardiff Arms Park, 1995 I think. They were utterly superb ... And having The Cranberries as one of the support acts was pretty good too!

Most Recent Fairport Convention, Exeter Corn Exchange a couple of months ago. I see them every year when theyre down here, but this year was different as their long standing drummer Gerry Conway had left the band and had been replaced by Dave Mattacks who was their dummer for their golden era in the late 60s through to the mid-90s.

First - The Specials etc Plymouth Fiesta ( could be the best too)
Worst - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 (- Sheffield ) in terms of underwhelming compared to expectation , not helped by a low midweek turnout.
Best - The Jam at Cornwall Colisseum / Siouxsie at Elephant Fayre, St Germans
Last - Mary J . Blige Wembley c 2006. My first and last ' big' gig - what's the point in being a mile away and looking at a screen ? Nearly 20 years ago -If Butternubs says he needs to maybe get out more I certainly do !

Worst - Squeeze (Pavilions)

Best - The Eagles (the old Wembley Stadium)

Last - 'We Will Rock You' (Home Park)

Wished I had seen Sinatra. He was playing Vegas when I was there in the 80s and I could have got tickets, but I thought 'Next time...' 😣
