And who do we play, at home, on the 4th May? - A team from Humberside?

Lets just hope we're not reliant on a certain team from Wearside to help us out eh?

And one massive, or should we say 'immense', glaring similarity: a negative manager, playing negative football but telling us all we we're robbed when we flop a limp, timid performances like the majority of Foster-era performances on the pitch, and asking us to believe him

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, that I was scarred by the end of that season. With 6 games left we were 14th and needed seven teams to overhaul us. Well we've given the seven (now 6) teams below us a lot longer to get the job done this time.

Some replies said it's different this time because we don't have a manager/playing squad issue, goal difference is in our favour, and there's not a lot of upward momentum from any of the teams below us. Not sure any of that is true any more with the way our GD is trending.

Things will also get more toxic this time around, Derek Adams had credit in the bank, Ian Foster has none, lose against Blackburn and I’m really not looking forward to the atmosphere when we play Preston at home.

i'm already convinced we'll get beaten at blackburn and feel that preston will do us as well but i don't think that lowe will get any pelters because of the dismal way we play.

The atmosphere at the Preston game will already be toxic with the visiting manager present. Its time to get behind the players in green and the manager position will be sorted in time…it’s a shame Mr Warnock is in Scotland!!

One thing is still true, the goal difference is the only saving grace! I also genuinely do not believe there is a comparable breakdown in team spirit akin to what we saw happen on the pitch at Accrington.

What id give for a Warnock interim appointment til the end of the season. Come on Neil, it’s only over the bridge, you know it makes sense. He’d install some pride, passion and belief for sure

I've been against this ridiculous sentiment that some have for Warnock to return every time it rears its head. But we're almost at the point where I don't think it's a terrible idea any more. That's how ludicrous this whole situation is.

One thing different to 2018/19 is that we were only good for the middle third of that season. So really we just reverted to being rubbish when we slid back down to the bottom 4. But Derek lost the fans when he called us "thugs" and the "dressing room" became toxic due to players, not the management. I can't see that being the same this time.

Another difference from 2018/19 is how many of the those players were in a team that almost made the playoffs in the same division the year before.

I'm not sure Neil Warnock is the answer either. 95/96 was a long, long time ago, speaking as someone who turned 15 midway through that season!

But 2023 wasn’t when he came in to rescue a sinking Huddersfield ship

I would be all for that, we need a shot in the arm to get us over the line and time to re-group in the summer.
