Has anyone noticed that a new ladies club who were formed in just March of this year, have applied and been accepted into tier two of the ladies pyramid, a level ABOVE where Argyle Ladies will feature next season?
Oh, the new club's name?.......... Manchester United :banghead:
What's worse than that, is that the FA wanted two leagues of 12 teams, but you need to be a professional side to be in the WSL now. Manchester United are launching a professional team in a league of semi professional teams and could have made up the numbers in the top flight. Because of United taking a spot in the second division, there was no room for Sunderland Ladies, one of the biggest Women's football teams in the country who are also responsible for helping through half of the current England team and they've been relegated at least two divisions because they're a part time side. They finished 7th in the season just gone. Seventh best team in the country, finishing above some full time sides and they've been dropped, effectively because Manchester United wouldn't apply for a WSL licence.
