There may be many moving parts here- any chance of new investment being announced before Christmas in time to persuade him to stay - bigger budget and improved contract?

Probably wishful thinking....
We’ve just improved his contract. If he was desperate to go, he will go it’s as simple as that.

Money aside, I really can't think of a more 'bleurgh' Championship manager position than Stoke.

Nothing is 'money aside' in football though (n)
Bleurgh pretty much describes that place in general - a truly awful, souless GNS if ever there was one.

Yeah it couldve been

Stoke "how much is the compo then?"
argyle: "this much" (aka **** off money)
Stoke: "hmmm we have lots of money, but that seems a lot"
Argyle: "righto, off you pop"

I suspect some straws are being clutched at there.

The tweet says the clubs have had talks. Doesn’t say whether Schuey has spoken to Stoke yet.

Yeah but the reality is they wouldn't approach Argyle without an indication Schuey would be interested. Football is a small business, and we're talking about human beings with mobile phones.

On the balance of probabilities that this does happen, who would people want as a replacement?

Promote from within again or look for a young and upcoming manager? Or maybe someone with championship experience to steer us over the safety line until the end of the season.

Ryan Lowe had a clause in his contract to say that the club had to accept an approach from a club in a higher league, I’m not sure how it would work in Schuey’s case as Stoke are in our league, could we turn around and say no? (I’m not saying that we should, because if he wants to leave then it makes no sense not to let him).

Has anybody from Argyle confirmed that he has spoken to Stoke? How do we know if it is fact or fiction?
I haven't seen anything saying they've spoke to Shuey. The headline is Stoke have spoke to Plymouth. If Mr Chairman says nope then it wouldn't get as far as talking to Shuey.

Personally if the worst happens I would like to see a safe pair of Championship hands to keep us up this season - Warnock would not be bad choice and is of course local and a genuine fan of the club. Football would be less exciting than of late but we would not be conceding so many silly goals with him in charge.

Simon Hallett will not say no if Shuey is interested. No point keeping a manager against his will.
