Great global rugby word cup
England europe
Argentina south america
South Africa, Africa
New Zealand southern hemisphere

Well spread out teams.

So down to business.
What do Eng have to do to beat the boks?

Kick everything, drop goal everything. Cant compete in the scrum, their ruck speed is impressive. Eng way too slow build up.
I dont think we will win simply down to the fact we will give away lots of pens.
But id like to be proven wrong.
Get rid of Farrell.

He’s a liability and every game he is only one move from a red card. He should have had one against Fiji but again, got away with it. If he cops a red against the Boks, forget it…alll over Rover!

Imho, George Ford is a lot, lot better than Farrell and…he’s got a working brain inside his skull.

Yeah hes lost the ability of a good tackle when chasing a kick. Also dont let genge or sinckler on the pitch..against Fiji they just wanted a scrap and gave away silly pens.
Id want the scrum half to speed up as well.

As I said in an earlier post, 300,000 + Rugby Union fans from ALL the participating nations were delightfully intermingled A group of England fans who fight amongst themselves cannot be allowed to besmirch and overshadow that fact.

Having been to very many rugby matches (from Albion to internationals) I have seen personal conflicts but not group aggression. Now in Australia I see large Aussie Rules crowds (E.g. 100,000 crowds at the AFL Grand final) where different affiliations mix with nothing worse than verbal exchanges. Dunno why agro seems limited to Football.

Unfortunately football fans have been linked to violence for almost 100 years so it's not a recent phenomenon dispite what people might think. There was crowd trouble in the 1930,s with Millwall (surprised?) having their ground shut following disturbances in 1934. Football in all it guises being local national or international, is very tribal as is often displayed all around the world. Maybe as its the one global sport, it would appear to confirm that the people's of the world are still very tribal and nothing has much changed over the centuries despite efforts of integration by various bodies and organisations worldwide.

NHL is also mixed crowds, normally only some verbal exchanges or beer thrown (what an expensive waste).

I‘ve heard that as football is so low scoring, it’s more akin to ”the hunt” for one or two kills, and drives more primal emotions than other higher scoring sports. IDK tho.

So near and yet so far. Whether it’s rugby or football, finding a way to come up short is just our national identity.

Yes that was brutal. Still don't get what the 78 min penalty was for.

England put up a helluva fight - a lot of pride restored. They caught SA on a very flat day with lots of uncharacteristic errors. England Rugby is similar to England football in that they often set up more not to lose (thwarting the opposition's creativity) than to win ( relying on their own creativity). They invariably kick for 3 rather than gamble for 7 for example. They both have good players.
Conditions were poor /slippery and a bit of a leveller and that may explain the endless high kicking from both sides. Not a pretty game as a result, although intriguing and nerve shredding.

I'm far from a rugby man and I have very little knowledge of the game.
I found it a proper bore fest and I don't recollect England once even remotely threatening to score a try.
It seemed to be all set plays and kick it back to eachother, a far cry from some of the quarter and semi finals I watched.
As I said I am pretty clueless about rugby and maybe those more knowledgeable will have found it thoroughly entertaining.
Thank God for football is all I can say.
