There is something odd going on here - as somebody said above could be a huge number of half season ticket sales but still…

It does seem amazing that there's been close to 100% takeup from season ticket holders. I was relatively confident that having a flexi ticket would get me in, but it was pretty clear from early on that it wouldn't.

I wonder if this'll make people reconsider buying the flexi tickets each season? I'm sure having second priority for big away games is a major selling point.
I am very surprised at the amount of ST holders buying tickets, a large portion of STs in the Grandstand can just about make it to their seats. Let alone STAND for 90 or 120 minutes. I hope they all realise they will have to stand, if not there maybe trouble ahead.

Half season sales (on sale from November until around game 12/13, so extended because of the postponements, not because of Chelsea tickets) make a very, very small number of our 7,000 season ticket holders.

There's nothing weird going on at all. As stated above, Argyle have almost 7,000 season ticket holders (including half season tickets), which means there has been roughly an 85% take-up on Chelsea tickets from this group.

Nothing weird about that for what is one of our biggest occasions in years.

I am an ST and will be there. But even if I wasn’t going I’d take up the option - I know of plenty of argyle fans who would want to use my ticket. Plenty will be moved on and not for profit- just the way it is

To a certain extent, but remember for a “top 6 Premier team” Chelsea ground is a lot smaller, so the away allocation in the cup is low.

Liverpool and Arsenal we had 9000 tickets available hence why it partly got to general sale.

I don't think I've ever seen an away supporters section sit down. Especially teams that would visit Stamford Bridge, probably didn't even enter their thought process that people would want to sit - hence making the whole away end safer.
It is usually mixed in my experience. In seated areas standers will tend to make their way to the back half sitters to the front. If it’s likely to big a crowd (allocated seating likely to be tried to be enforced) then they will specify to the box office their preferences. I think if your stood in the thick of the standers it can feel like the whole end is but it very rarely is for run of the mill games, big games like Liverpool might be different.

In 20 years of going away I can’t think of a single club who host the majority of away supporters on a traditional terrace, not offer a few seats, usually in their grandstand, as well for the elderly, disabled, small children etc. Even Accrington with their small ground manage to offer a handful of seats, even Exeter, who it probably makes a bit of a stewarding/policing nightmare for manage it.

It is weird to me.
The demographic of our season ticket holders, the 12:30 KO, the fact is it available on red button, the game being in London (which like it or not is a pain in the arse) - and yet 6,000 out of 7,000 ST holders bought a ticket.
It doesn't add up.

I genuinely can’t work out what you think has happened then?

A fair proportion of the demographic of Season Ticket holders would struggle to stand for 90 minutes.
