The problem is that with Chelsea being one of the five 'early adopters' of safe standing is that it meant they had to provide a number of safe standing seats to away supporters. 12,000 safe standing spaces have been. Normally for Premiership games only one tier of The Shed end is available for away fans. Cup rules requiring 15% of the ticket allocation has meant the entire 6,000 allocation being safe standing.

Below is the guidance - no mention of the conflict between those wanting to sit.

I suggest post match that this issue is raised with the authorities as surely the option of a seat should be available - Cup game or not.
I expect it's too late Graham as im sure somebody posted on here thatthe capacity goes down to 80% for fans that are sitting.

Ponty - I am not sure that is correct. The capacity at Stamford Bridge has remained the same. Safe standing was first trialled at Celtic Park a few years ago with a just under 3,000 safe standing section in one of the quadrants. They lost 120 seats to their capacity as a result of additional barriers and wider gangways.

All this ticket excitement reminds me of the Liverpool home game a few years ago. I'll never forget everyone queuing up around the cark park for a raffle ticket, which entitled you to come back six hours later to buy a match ticket. It was absolutely freezing so they opened up the bar under the Mayflower, although I don't think they were selling any beer unfortunately. Happy days.

Everyone will have the option of having a seat.

Aye, but being able to see the game while using it is up for debate.

I may as well whack my desperate plea in at this stage... If anyone is perturbed by the prospect of safe standing or circumstances for attending change, my wife and I are Flexi-6 & BGL members who went to the previous 3 rounds and would be happy to relieve you of the stress of a day in the smog... My DMs are open.

I do feel there should be an area where people who want to sit could choose. those who are elderly or injured or have young children perhaps. It will be difficult for some although it clearly hasn't put people off buying tickets. I just picked the row furthest forward that was available so the kids can see

How old are the kids? At Liverpool, I got my lad to stand on his seat so he could see. As they have seats at Chelsea, would this be an option for the smaller ones?

I didn’t realise we had 6000 season ticket holders so no chance for us BGL members.

It does seem amazing that there's been close to 100% takeup from season ticket holders. I was relatively confident that having a flexi ticket would get me in, but it was pretty clear from early on that it wouldn't.

I wonder if this'll make people reconsider buying the flexi tickets each season? I'm sure having second priority for big away games is a major selling point.
