The searches are excessive. Why are they happening? I don't recall any weapons or flare issues inside HP until yesterday and ironically it was in the away end. I've been to grounds at higher levels than L1 this year and haven't been searched.

There were a few issues with flares or green smoke bombs or whatever they were inside the ground before COVID, I've had a few land near me in the Devonport. If you're near one when it goes off it's not pleasant.

There were also three or four blokes yesterday in the Devonport that were obviously on something as their behaviour was unnecessarily aggressive, surely it's safer for the rest of us that can behave themselves if they've at least been searched before entry, bearing in mind the current state of mental health of the nation since lockdown?

It's a 5-second, non-contact search, how anyone can find it offensive baffles me.

Doesn't offend me but clearly it's not working as Wigan got one into the ground yesterday.

It's weird seeing young kids getting searched going into the Lyndhurst.

The reference to being offended was about the previous posters, octogenariens, kids being searched etc.

Which surely in today's snowflake society would lead to people mis-using allegations of discrimination, victimisation and the like as one person gets searched and the other doesn't.

Besides, terrorists are well known for their honesty and lack of deception aren't they.

So one flare slipped through, how many more would've got in if people weren't searched?

It's weird being searched, it's weird watching grown men off their heads at an Argyle game, it's weird everywhere at the moment. Sign of the times.

If another terrorist incident was to occur in Plymouth and Argyle didn't search most people that came in, people would be complaining then wouldn't they.

They probably would have said that about pop concerts a few years ago.

Matter of time before thereā€™s another terrorist incident at a major football match. Unlikely at an EFL 1 fixture, granted.

I know what youā€™re saying and youā€™re probably right.

It just seems wasteful to wand/search swathes of people that donā€™t fit the profile.

Whatā€™s the chances of an 81 year old widow from Eggbuckland carrying out a terrorist attack?

You can't just wand or search people that 'fit the profile'.

Someone one day will explain to me why that is?
How can you have a club that promotes the Rainbow Laces day or whatever it was, sends out reminders about HerGame over the tannoy, promotes inclusivity then only searches people that 'fit the profile'?

People would use it to their advantage if they wanted to in the snowflake scenario, but common sense dictates that perhaps if someone wanted to get something into the ground that shouldn't be in there, they'd use someone that didn't 'fit the profile'?

It would be helpful if the club publicly listed what the searches have found this season.

A few weeks ago a steward told me someone with a knife was stopped, whether that was a large knife or a penknife attached to a keyring I don't know.

Ah right, so an aggro merchant could ask his granny to smuggle in an AK47? Makes complete sense?

Not picking on you bud, just hate this sort of 'jobsworth wokism' in this sort of case.

Common bleeding sense that's what's needed.

Nah but he could probably get a few wraps past security, couple of smoke bombs or a knife or the like if he knew that his gran wasn't getting frisked on the way in.

I don't feel picked on, I agree with you in some capacity, and in the early 90's when I first started watching Argyle I think your logic would hold.

Not now though.

AMBER is not a terrorist security level as stated in this forum - the current security level is SEVERE which means a terrorist attack is highly likely.
If Argyle are taking this seriously then why arenā€™t all cars searched prior to entering the crowded area between the stadium and Life Centre?

If a terrorist was targeting Argyle it is more likely to be a suicide bomber waiting outside for supporters leaving the ground in an area where bottlenecks occur.
I havenā€™t seen armed officers watching over the departing crowds as you see when queuing for the tube along Wembley Way after matches.

Let me just be clear. I can see how the searches might be irritating, intrusive, annoying and perhaps/probably unnecessary. I just canā€™t really see why anyone would find them ā€˜humiliatingā€™. But obviously others disagree.

I hate being 'wanded' but I particularly hate how inconsistent the process is.

I've been to all bar one home game so far this season and at gate 9, haven't been 'wanded' at every match, or a bloke has wafted it half heartedly in my general direction and not once has anything beeped for keys, money or mobile. A few weeks back, I walked in with my coat over my arm and had the magic wand waved over me, but not my coat!

I understand the reasons for enhanced security, and accept the inevitable extra entry time required, but if it's not being conducted properly (and I'm sure SIA are charging the club a premium for this 'service') what's the point?
