The whole idea of the refurbishment of the grandstand is to bring in new income streams that the club are missing out on. The refurbishment alone will not deliver that to it's fullest potential. It would increase match day income but the conferencing facilities will not be competitive without the additional venues at HHP. The hotel is a must in this respect and the City needs the ice rink. The other facilities will not only increase the daily footfall but will contribute to the cost of the whole development.

It seems to me that some people just want more seats, a supporters bar for match days and nothing else. Well that alone would hardly increase turnover to the level that could be achieved with the full development in place.

The "add ons" may not seem necessary or of a benefit to the club but their inclusion will help pay for the bits that the club will profit from.

Iā€™ve just had to have a sit down because I agree with you :)

Spot on and a shame a lot of people canā€™t understand that. Ultimately the club is a business and must be treated as such. Which as far has I can see is whatā€™s happening.

This for me too.

And Leigh, it's a sad day for the AFT when they lose members like you.

The AFT statement says that it was an overwhelming majority, not unanimous Ian.
FWIW, the statement makes some good points, debatable of course, so debate the points: "play the ball rather than play the man".
The AFT has every right to set out its stall this way and the Board needs to answer the points - that is the planning system. If AFT members don't like what the AFT Board does, they can use their constitutional rights to get rid of Board members accordingly.
Slavish adherence to the word from the PAFC Board is not healthy either.

Peter Ryan. AFT Member #1

Overwhelming majority of how many Peter?

The AFT have flatly refused to give any figures of the number of emails they received. Why is that?

The AFT had an age to poll their members on what action they should take. They didn't. Why is that?

The AFT refuse to answer any questions from fans about their objection. Why is that?

You say that the AFT has every right to set their stall out this way. So you agree with their unilateral actions whilst claiming to represent the views of Argyle fans?

The AFT website states

We believe that responsible supporter engagement in decision making ā€“ in partnership with the owner, with the City Council, and with other bodies with a legitimate interest in the club, is necessary to pave the way to renewed sustainability.

They have not done this. Do you think this is acceptable?

Itā€™s a sad day when they lose any members to be fair.

Thereā€™s a selection of our fan base that will only be happy if we fail, weā€™ve seen a steady increase in quality and crowds the last few seasons, Adams is an asset and JB love him or hate him has done what he said, that the club would be self sustaining and not live above its means. That imho is sound business thinking.

Just need to get stuff right on the pitch now!

Investment in the facilities can never be a bad thing. The club desperately needs this to be in with a chance of competing at a higher level, by receiving additional income, which is surely what all fans want.

Well said and the club also point out the strong support for the development from people living in Plymouth, Cornwall and the region.

Well said from the club.

Out of interest has the club completed a survey or something else to be able to make the statement about strong support from those areas?

If you read the statement in full the sentence following the one Postey has quoted above makes it clear they are referring to those who officially registered their support for the application with PCC.

Point scoring and snide remarks from a divided fan base. Is this development even part of the debate anymore? Absolutely pathetic. People need to get over themselves and their personal vendettas. Squabbling like children with total neglect for the club.

Absolutely bang on, complain and moan about the behaviour of others whilst doing the same thing.

The club noted the strong support on the PCC website from those living in the area, I guess from their addresses published on the PCC planning website.
We are delighted to see the strong support for the plans from people who live in Plymouth and in Devon and Cornwall. Of those who have commented and who have declared that they live in the city or region, three times as many have supported the plans as have objected.

Well done JB for not only submitting a hybrid application, when quite clearly the grandstand should be a separate one. But also for creating division in our fan base. His popularity is rapidly declining and no wonder!

And you can evidence this how?

What constitutes strong? Someone earlier mentioned 58 for and 38 against had emailed the planning department, is it those 58 that strong support refers?

When the grandstand has had the refurbishment, to include better hospitality and meals before the games, do we still expect to increase turnover by one million? I understand that part of the new development, not owned by the football club will have restaurants and other food outlets, possible owned by our chairman {major shareholder}? What is stopping them under cutting PAFC , possible even throwing some tickets in on a meal deal. Therefore bringing in less than we take now? Could this happen or am I missing some important information?

The food outlets will not be takeaway.

There will be no competition with Argyle outlets.

Pasoti speculation does not make Pasoti fact. Stop it.

Stop What? So the new restaurants will not allow sit down meals like the football club does before matches? There are only so many fans looking for a full meal before a match.

60 to 38 now and some of the objectors don't object to all and some of the approvers don't approve of all.
