The only way the first team (and staff?) will be paid on Thursday is if the Judge lifts the validation order which freezes the club's bank account because of the winding up order(s). The validation order can only be lifted if the HMRC debt is paid probably in full on or by Wednesday or by agreement with the Judge and/or HMRC.
The case could be adjourned because of time constraints for the Judge and HMRC to consider whether,
1. Argyle are trading insolvently or not because of the mess of the accounts (what is the debt exactly?). This happened in the Sheffield Wednesday case.
2. Whether the Ridsdale inspired recovery plan has any real legs - deals done on players going in January and where the £4m cash injection required at the beginning of February is actually coming from and proof that the company can continue to trade as a viable concern (including paying their current and future HMRC debt).
An adjournment will not normally lift the validation order so the players (and staff) will not be able to be paid until either the debt is paid off, he agrees to lift the validation order on Wednesday or the Judge consents at the reconvened hearing, whenever that may be (probably not more than 14 days).
