Who is our Key Player for the remainder of the season?

For those of you who visit the MatchDay Threads, you will notice that I include FourFourTwo’s key player for each club, with ours being Michael Cooper.

However, now that Coops is out for the season, who do you think is our Key Player for the remainder of the season?

NOTE: I’ve taken Coops out as he will play no further part in the season. Conor Grant will also miss out as I’m not too sure of his status. Dan Scarr is seeing a specialist, so he may have a chance of returning before the end of the season and has therefore been included.

Matete

Simply because he can influence a game in midfield in defensive & attacking situations.

He shows us the type of player now we need for next season. We need energetic footballers to play a attack minded game.

Miller, he was amazing today.

Matete will be the difference. He made an immediate impact today. The guy is everywhere, winning balls, driving play forward - he's just formidable and gives us the steel and momentum we need in midfield to do the attacking stuff up front. Without him we would be significantly weaker in my view.

Miller won't play enough minutes to be the key, but he's an exciting addition.

The poll misses the point of what we are about. We don't have a standout player, like a Bannon or a Morsey, but we do have a lot of players capable of the lead role in the right circumstances. Sometimes there's a player who's easily the best in a given game (Matete at Wednesday an example), but more often we win because 7 or 8 have played really well in the context of the team (like today). I don't like the "team" option in MoM polls, seeing it as a cop out in terms of producing an individual winner, but in terms of this question it will be "the team" (or perhaps "the squad") who will be the vital ingredient, rather than a single individual.

Azaz for me. There are going to be games between now and May that are tight and scrappy. Those are the games where sometimes you need an individual to produce that little bit of extra quality to make the difference. Azaz is that player, he’s a match-winner.

Matete would be my choice. He can break up the opposition play but is also creative enough to make things happen. A real live-wire of a player. If he stays injury -free Azaz will be a massive asset too

Butcher for me. Does the bread and butter stuff enabling the rest to play.

Finn Azaz, his goal minutes after coming on showed how much he was missed while he was out injured.

Azaz is the best player in the squad in terms of shear ability. Hopefully he can stay fit between now and the end of the season.
